My favorite, Phil Cappelle makes mention of this match in one of his books for a decision Mike makes on a five ball shot. He makes a stop shot on the five and takes a tougher shot on the next ball rather than trying a hard draw shot.

Also Matthews v. Varner in a straight pool exhibiton on Cherry Grove Ill. Nick puts a 76-74 on Grady to the delight of Freddy "The Beard" and Billy Incardona.

And...Hall v. Hoa in the 1999? US Open finals.

It was 1998 for Tang vs. Buddy. And the best match between them was for the "hot seat" in the winners bracket final. Better than the final match. Tang also played a great match with Mika on the loser's side.

I saw the Flaherty vs Diliberto you mentioned. What was so great about it? Danny played ok but he missed a few shots that gave Toby some outs.

If you can get a hold of the 89 U.S Open, check out two matches of 21 year old Oliver Ortmann...he destroys Grady, Bill Staton...plays a real gambler style...reminds me of fast eddie...great commentary...
 
I don't believe the '89 Open is available from Accu-Stats any longer. It's too bad because I know Sigel had a 150 and out in that event and it's on tape but I can't buy it. Also, I heard Archer had a 150 and out on tape maybe from a different tournament that is no longer available, but I could be mistaken.

The Archer/Rempe match is from the 91 Sands Regent.It was Davenport by the way.That was from the 92 Bicycle Club invitational.The Sigel match you talked about is one that I own as well.I can't stand that match.Mark beat himself in that one too,only he gave up early.When he shot that combo and missed I knew it was over!Then He just gave Mike the match.........bonehead!But hey,I am guilty of the same things myself so who am I to talk,right???:D

Yah Jay,you commentated in that match with Billy and got just as disgusted as the rest of us when he hung that easy 6 in the corner!!:D

Sigel's 150 and out against Zuglan from '92 is legendary, but his 150-and-out in the '89 Open was also incredible. It was against Jim Rempe, and Sigel broke and left Rempe a long difficult cut with the cueball about 1.5" off the rail down table. Rempe made the shot, but the cueball rolled up close to a ball coming off the end cushion and left him without an offensive shot.

Rempe tried to play a very soft, thin cut safety off that ball and put Sigel behind another ball near the end cushion, but he was about .5 inch short of sticking Sigel behind the ball without a shot. Bridging off the end rail with the cueball about a half inch off the cushion Sigel shot a ball that was about half-way between the spot and the end-cushion into the side pocket and ran 150-and-out.

Interesting note, each of Sigel's 150-and-out runs caught by Accu-Stats took just slightly more than 60 mins.
 
if you like I'll send you a list of what I have, i have all of 89, all of 1994 which is the 15th U.S. Open, all the straight pool from 1993 Cleveland all around shoot out...the Maine Event 1995 {Efren's first straight pool tourn. which he wins, 2000 U.S. Open all matches...

OK did we ever find out who Efren was playing in that video and if the video can be purchased?

2006 DCC One Pocket -- double-feature on one DVD:

Semis: Efren Reyes vs. Alex Pagulayan

Finals: Efren Reyes vs. Jason Miller

In match #1, Efren's cue ball was, in a word, other-worldly. At one point in the match, Efren kept sticking Alex behind "the lone ranger" -- a 2-ball all by itself on Alex's side of the table, facing Efren's pocket, with balls blocking a bank back into Alex's pocket. He did this up-table and back (having the cue ball traverse about 15 feet, having it finally come to rest behind the 2-ball in said position) 3 times! In fact, Freddy the Beard (commentating on this match) said to the effect, "Alex should just shoot the 2-ball to get it out of there, otherwise Efren's going to keep sticking him behind it!" When Alex finally did something to remove the ball / shoot at his hole, he left a window to bank for Efren, and Efren runs his usual 8-and-out. The whole match is like this -- "box with me, Alex, but don't make even the slightest mistake!" Execution to the extreme on Efren's part.

In match #2, to borrow a phrase by our own Dave Segal (SpiderWebComm), was like "watching a deer die." Near-flawless execution by Efren that completely suffocated Jason Miller. And the one time where Efren's execution wasn't flawless? He pulls out this unbelievable razor-thin-cut-and-kill-cueball-uptable-and-back shot that is now part of Billiard Digest's "Stroke of Genius" series.

This whole DVD will have you on your seat in disbelief at Efren's execution. You don't even have to like One Pocket to watch it -- the action is like 9-ball.

I am gonna have to vote for the '97 world 1p match between PArica/ Slivka.

Just the first 4 games though!

Dammit, Gerry. You think duck's a bird and Parica is gonna burn you for it in '97 every time!@!:D
 
1. Nick Varner vs Mike Sigel (159B-02) 1990 U.S. Open 9 Ball- Varner mounts an AMAZING comeback to win 11-10.

2. Shannon Daulton vs Corey Deuel (1P00-06) 2000 World One Pocket Championship- Duele breaks like he's playing 8 ball! The look on SD's face is priceless, as is the commentary by Grady & Johnny "The Velvet Foghorn" Ervolino. Johnny was sputtering like a 20 year old lawn mower that ain't been oiled for years!

3.Willie Mosconi vs Jimmy Caras (AS-MC) at the 1991 Valley Hall of Fame dinner show. Besides a 14.1 match between these two, they were both interviewed at length, with portions being played thru-out the tape. It's nice to have these legends perserved for future generations to learn about. Wish we had film like this on Greenleaf, Taberski, Erwin Rudolph, etc.

I'll honor the request for only 3 Accu-Stat matches, even though I could easily list a top 100!
