I am heading to Waldorf for two weeks or so. Is anyone on here near there and might want to hit some balls? Anyone have any recommendations on where to play?

Have you ever thought of using the On Line Yellow Pages to find Billiards Rooms.

There used to be a player named Chris Compton who played out in Waldorf area. I'm not sure about any cool pool rooms there, but I do know they have a lot of bars with tables in the area, if you like that kind of atmosphere. I used to enjoy hitting the bar spots, but I was more of a bar table player than a big table player when I was hitting 'em. :p

QuBall 1 Billiards in Capital Heights where they had the recent Strawberry Memorial One-Pocket tournament is about a 30-to-40-minute drive from Waldorf, but there's good action there, good players. This is a "real" pool room, all pool, no fluff: Directions to QuBall 1 Billiards.

Here's an article from OnePocket.org with pictures from the event: http://www.onepocket.org/2010StrawberryMemorial.htm

I'm reminded of an old-time player from Waldorf, a road agent, named "Waldorf Danny." He was a big action kind of player. People traveled from high and low to play Waldorf Danny. One time sitting on the rail, I counted 53 strokes before he took a shot. That was his trademark. If you ever saw a little short guy stroke the ball 50-plus times before pulling the trigger, that's Waldorf Danny. I wonder if he's still around. :D

hard times cafe

its on 301 by the mall. early afternoon there are guys that play one pocket. some nights before 8 you can get some action, after 930 it gets loose and liquored up folks not really there to shoot pool. that's the only spot I frequently go to when I am in town.

I

QuBall 1 is a serious one pocket room. They are very friendly though.

I have family in Waldorf. I'll ask them about pool there.

Hey there! Dave and I were just thinking about PMing you to see if you were gonna be at the Expo this year. We only live about 30 mins from Waldorf - we often go to Hard Times Cafe to play. It's about the best you are going to do there. I'll send you a PM with my cell phone number, give me a call or text if you'd like to meet up and shoot some.

Hard Times was the recommendation of my cousin in Waldorf too.

Think you could be referring to Chris Comstock, excellent 9baller that now plays onepocket. As the poolplayer ages onepocket seems to be the game they gravitate towards ...

Waldorf, not much going on out there that I know of.

Hard Times but it's sort of casual with occasional action

well the players name is not chris compton, but it is chris comstock. he is a hell of a player. hard times in waldorf is the only place with decent 9 foot tables. i transferred from waldorf to texas in may of last year, so im not sure whats been added or taken away from waldorf. but when i was there it was hard times acfe. hope this helps.

That's the guy. I remember him in some local tournaments when I was frequenting them. Thanks for the information. This is what a pool forum should be all about: networking with other like-minded people. Thanks again!

You got it right again, Billy, as usual. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies everyone! Especially you, Cowboy...I have never thought of that!

I am in Baltimore for the night visiting my buddy and I head to Waldorf in the morning. I may only be able to go out a couple of nights since my school this semester is keeping me pretty busy.
