A message has been sent to Sean Leinen by myself about twenty minutes ago.

This is the body of the message.

Sean after reading recent comments of yours from your pm's to Dennis and seeing your true feelings on Steve myself and Dennis I think it would be best if you steered clear of the 14.1 Challenge.

Please understand I am not trying to argue with you fight with you or ride chaff etc.

I just don't want you there period. Im not going to sugar coat it and im not going to pretend to be pleasant about it, and either way you will be denied entry into the event.

You can bad mouth whoever you want man but just think that maybe the reason why we are the good ol boys club is because we are actually doing stuff for the sport like producing events etc when there are those who sit back and write about it.

Have a good life in the main forum.

Sincerely,
Charlie

Guys please understand that I know this may look bad for me as a tournament director however I will not be bad mouthed behind my back, nor will I allow two highly regarded members of this forum be bad mouthed either. I would make this same call if this was going on with anyone else in this forum as well.

Myself Steve and Dennis are trying to bring events to the 14.1 crowd and although I know there is more to it in PM's and fighting right here on AZ forums I will not bring this to mine and Steve's event. I apologize in advance for whoever I offend in barring Sean from the event but the call is up to me and I made it.

If this makes me a good ol boy or part of a clique than so be it but as stated in the body of my message I would rather try and produce events for 14.1, charity events, and push pool in a positive light than bring up some completely insignificant unimportant self serving crap about mosconi rolling over in his grave.

This has gotten completely out of hand and I am putting a stop to it at least on my end.

Your event, your rules, but I believe you are making a hasty mistake here and should reconsider. Basing a competitive decision on any words exchanged here is petty, unfair, and inappropriate. As the sponsor of an event, like the 14.1 Challenge, though it may be in your power to bar or play favorites with any particular player *you need to be unquestionably above all that.* If anyone should be barred from your event it should be Charlie Williams -- remember him and what happened last year ;-)

Don't start applying politics to pool. There's enough of that already.

Lou in all honesty trust me I am tempted to cancel the whole thing at this point. Obviously I'm not going to but after everything that has been presented to me I would be shocked if I stayed in this forum much longer either.

Jeez, I think everyone needs to take a step back & take a deep breath. Barring a forum member from your much-anticipated 14.1 event event and then hinting at cancelling the event altogether just because a forum member got pissy is too much. I thought it was over the top that Sean took his marbles & went home in the first place...and now this? It's Saturday night, pop a beer or two & report back Monday morning.

Charlie, I know how much work it is to put on an event like this guy isn't making it easier. I also stongly suspect that some stuff went on behind the open forum that we all don't know about.

One person doesn't make an event a success and you should not let one person ruin your event. The decisions are yours to make. When your detractors step up and run an event, they will get to make the decisions.

I look forward to spending more time at your event this year and I know it will be the best event at the Expo.

Fury SBE 14.1

After all the aggravation it will happen...and soon. Don't let folks get you down, Charles.

Cumbaya Lou....

For once, I agree with one of Lou's posts :)

In all seriousness, Lou is 1000% correct. AZBilliards is a forum that, by nature, incites the worst in very good people sometimes (yes, even me). Every single one of the posters on here have had "one of those days" when they've allowed themselves to be more susceptible than the previous day.

The VERY LAST THING we (as pool players) should ever allow is for our online politics and name-calling to leak over to the "real world" --- where things actually matter. It's the "real world" that drives our passion for the "online" ... not vice-versa.

Many of you know I've been involved in many forum arguments that have NEARLY (never happened though) festered to the point of matriculating to the real-world. In many of these situations, I've said some pretty nasty hateful things and at the same time I've been called some pretty nasty things as well. That being said.... if I was a TD for a pool tournament and Patrick Johnson, Lou Figueroa, Dr. Dave, Mike Page, Bob Jewett or (gasp) GetMeThere wanted to play in my tournament, they'd ALWAYS be welcome. How can I beat them if I don't let them play?

I don't know Sean very well and it's fair to say we've been on opposite sides of the wishbone more times than not. However, I do know if he did say something that wasn't cool, calm and collected --- he likely just had a bad day (because he's usually telling me I'm wrong in a logical manner in most cases haha).

I think all parties should relax, calm down and not jump to "I'm banning you from a SBE event...." Banning people from real-life based on what they did online isn't a precedent we should set, and I hope calmer heads prevail. After all, if Grady can call Charlie Williams a no-good *@&# many times in previous threads.... and Charlie still giving him an invite... there's no reason to not let Sean play if he chooses to do so.

Let's all calm down, say we're sorry, and be grown-ups.

The shiek was down the green room last year, He hates Hulk Hogan with a passion.

Yep... the Hulkster and Sheiky-baby made Vince McMahon a lot of money with that shtick. They're actually good friends. The legend of their hatred keeps the ambers burning on the legend of The Iron Sheik.

Sheiky tells his story

You gotta love the guy. His 15 minutes of fame have last more than 30 years.

I guess that would make me the "Aluminum Ayatollah" lol lol lol

I hope Sean apologizes for anything he said that was out of line and I also hope you recant your decision to bar him from the 14.1 challenge.

If you were to setup a poll, I think you'd see an overwhelming support to separate AZB politics from real-world events. That said, everyone deserves a mulligan based on a bad day of posting.
