USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

I have a couple more NV player updates. Billy Silvera and Robert Egan fall under the $150 bracket. I don't believe they were paid. Poncho (don't know last name) received his $100.

Thanks Mike! :)
I think Poncho is Pancho Corrall...

Below is the updated list (24 names still missing):

1st $5,000 (Jeff Gregory)
2nd $3,000 (Carl Wilson Jr.)
3rd $2,300 (Jenny Lee)
4th $1,700 (Mike Langerica)
5th-6th $850 (Jeff Heath*, Colin Mazaika)
7th-8th $650 (Kenny Koo, Charles Skeen)
9th-12th $550 (Alex Bradley, Jamie Bruce, Gilbert Arellano, ?)
13th-16th $400 (?, ?, ?, ?)
17th-24th $300 (Lisa Coronado, Kenny Maeda, Johnny Skeen, Nick Callado*,?,?,?,?)
25th-32th $150 (Albert Alfred, Mike Prebeg, Brandon Boatman, Steve Lucas, Billy Silvera, Robert Egan, ?, ?)
33rd-48th $100 (Chris Cruz*, Don Parker, Rylan Hartnett*, Pancho Corrall*, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)

Total Prize fund is $24,900

Lawyer.

There is a guy I played in Seattle that would be willing to give his legal services to those who have not been paid and want to be paid. He said the Peppermill was responsible. We only talked about it for a few minutes, we spent most of the night playing one pocket. I have his number at his office for anyone who cares.

Yeah it would be great to get that number. I will get ahold of you today. I think I know who it is, thanks for your help Bill!

USPPA and non payment

I have not said much in the last couple of weeks.

I am going to disagree with anyone's asessment that the Peppermill is the responsible party on this issue.

If they had agreed to pay a certain amount and then did not pay, then they would be the problem. But I am pretty sure that is not the case.

If the Peppermill had agreed to pay money, then I am pretty sure they would have just paid it. They have way to much to lose if they are in any way responsible.

I am thinking that Tony just screwed up and instead of explaining the problem, he just dances and thinks it will go away.

The best recourse is talking to the DA or AG office and have the State go after him for fraud. Might even get the Consumer Protection Agency after him.

My biggest quesiton is 'where is Amber Starry on all of this?'

That is how I see it.

I think Mark Griffin is probably correct about the best course of action. However, if I had a dog in this fight, there's one thing I'd at least seriously consider before going to the DA, AG, etc.

I'd be inclined to talk to the Peppermill's event coordinator or PR people. Explain to them how much everybody liked the venue and how nice and efficient the staff were and how much you'd like to come back there. But Tony hasn't paid like he was supposed to. Show them the brochure (if I remember correctly, it seemed to imply the Peppermill was sponsoring the tournament). Tell them you certainly don't want to cause the Peppermill any problems because they were so nice in letting you play there. So before anybody went to the DA or AG or somebody, you thought you'd try to find out if there's some standard way of handling situations like this, or maybe somebody at the Peppermill could suggest who you should see to resolve this, or ..., etc, etc.

At worst, they blow you off with a lecture about how they aren't responsible for anything at all, ever, and they have a letter from Saint Cajetan to prove it. I think there's a fair possibility that won't happen, at least not in such a blunt form. This doesn't cost you anything, and you might learn something useful.

I'd go see somebody in person, but I've spent my life getting bureaucrats to do things for me; mostly I find it fun. However, it might be better to do it in writing, as long it's drafted by someone who writes well. That gives whoever handles it some time to think about it, and administrators are good at dreaming up phantom problems to deal with, even (especially) if there aren't any real ones. They are also generally flattered by being asked to use their obvious expertise and competence to suggest solutions to somebody else's problems as long as they don't have to do any real work. Sometimes you even find one who really is competent and if you give them something interesting to think about you may get useful help (but don't count on this).

:yikes::wub::happydance::bash::outtahere::outtahere:Jeff, here is the number for the attorney that will help you, 209-999-665henShen I spoke to him briefly after our match, he said that at first glance there were several people who may be liable, Peppermill, USPPA owner, 2 cushion owner. Talk to him and instead of bozos like me giving legal advice you can get Pro Bono help from a real PI attorney. As far as going to the DA or something like that? I think the DA would tell you it's civil not criminal. You would have to prove there was intent. Intent to defraud, divert, or steal the money. Being a bad business person is not criminal. The remedy for a bad business person is bankruptcy. Tony has an ego that will not let him admit that he made a mistake. If you have ever spoken to him, it's always the other persons fault. As soon as you get paid remember, that's my money you have and we will be matching up after you get it.

This is the best suggestion so far.

Good luck, everyone.

nice job Jeff,

That was classy and very well done. If Tony will pay out of his own pocket (bullshit) then he should have already done it. The man is just a bald face lier. GREAT JOB THOUGH.

It really sounded like Tony pulled with wool over Curtis's eyes also. It sounded weak at the end like everything was all good because Tony told Curtis exactly what Curtis wanted to hear.

At last Jeff Gregory took some step to expose Tony outside the pool community. Nice break Jeff!

nice to see

I'm not familiar with "Call Kurtis" but it looks similar to the Bay Area's (Channel 7-ABC) "7 ON YOUR SIDE"...which helps consumers get paid or their money back when there has been some wrongdoing; however, the difference here is that there was no immediate payment or resolution, just more promises........I do hope "Kurtis" follows through on this......

Thanks alot you guys. They did a good job on editing the piece. I have heard alot of ideas about what to do to get us players all paid. This was the first step going to the media about it and letting every one know what happened.

The next step is much more extreme.

I know the $10,000 bucks we paid into the pool tournament just disappeared. To this day, Annigoni is still not saying what he did with the entry fees. I hope to get paid real soon.

Show me the money

Great job Jeff!
This is definitely a good step towards getting this resolved. Don't know if it will speed up the process of getting paid but at least a LOT more people are aware of it.

BTW, nice jump shop cross side bank. :D
