Whats the best way to fix a warped shaft???

Sometimes it seems people ask a question, get a reasonable answer, but due to it not being the outcome they hoped for ,sling at someone trying to put them in the right direction.
I feel it is very insulting and unnessacerry to demean people and call them not very bright or intelligent.
An individuals intelligence, often , has little to do with knowing one of the answers to a problem.
It seems obvious to me, that if the cue shaft is not straight, it has stress in it that ended up nutralising itself and thus being bent.
For whatever the cause, it will never be straight for any length of time.

i was starting to wonder if anyone was paying attn to joey's avatar. i quit reading the thread, and found if i scrolled up and down the replies real fast, she seemed to be winking at me.

I get asked this question all the time, My standard answer is If It's not warped too badly, and depending on where It's located, then forget about It and play, If it's really bad then a new shaft is the best option that I know of. Actually IMO if It's not that bad off then probably better not to even check for it, because that just gets in a person's mind and can cause more mental issues with their game then It's worth.

Before I even built My first cue I had couple of cues that the shafts warped on, some I could hang from the tip with the handle attached, and over time the weight of the handle pulled it fairly straight, but then at the pool hall an hour or so into play It would go right back where it was. I ended up making new shafts for them.

since then I've tried steaming them and a host of other things, but Like others have said, the wood stress/memory has always won the battle. In the past I have read where a person here or there says they found the answer and can straighten them, but all My personal experiences have taught me, that Yes temporally It may be straightened, but It's only a matter of time...

LOL, Yeah But He was trying to straighten out the other shaft, Besides Fishnets don't do My beer belly figure any justice, so they are out of the question:p

Oddly enough the name of the movie he was filming at the time was called "Stretched"

Definitely a shocking revelation of events. Ruined the Kung Fu series for ever in My mind. I remember the wasted time in the 70's watching that show every time It came on. Who would have thunk it.

I can't wait for the next thread.
Fixing warped butts.

Just wanting your knowledge to know whats your best way to take a bow out of the middle of a shaft....thanks david

Hang on to the shaft for a while and it might get straight again:yikes:. I know it sounds funny but I played with a Schick for years and one of the shafts would bow up every spring and straighten back out when the weather turned cold in the fall. It never bowed to the point of being unplayable but would go through its moodswings a couple times each year.

He he LOL, you gave me a good laugh there he he.

Send it to me. I don't care if it bows a little. No worse than most house cues. I will give it a good home as a back up shaft, or use a sharpie pen to mark off bridge point, stroke length, use it as a break shaft, etc. John
