Earl/Shane Scoreboard

It's good to see Earl get a big win. The table was tough. Props to Shane for stepping up to play Earl's rules. I think it was a great match, may lead to more 5x10 big matches, very entertaining. Efren, how's your back, get ready Bata!!

You are correct, I found it. However, I was trying to access it through where I paid for it. It took a while to figure out where to access the free stream.

Not an issue, but I would have preferred to not have to search for a free stream when I knew how to access it from the place I paid for it.

In addition, I doubt that I was the exception. They wouldn't have provided it for free if I was the exception. There was obviously a problem, which is why they put out there for free.

I justed wanted to add a note that I am not complaining. I appreciate what TAR is doing and enjoyed the match.

If I would have not been able to access the stream tonight, I would not have even asked for my money back. Like I said, I appreciate what they are trying to do.

WOW!! Almost 80 pages of post in 3 days.....Only Earl could do that!!

What was the high on viewers on TAR last night? I couldn't get the stream to load?

And the intelligent TD at the SBE wouldn't let him play on the TV table. Take note of that bright move, Hopkins...

Like him or not, people wanna see Earl play...

I firmly believe that I'm witnessing the future of pool. This larger table is the thing that could make pool a mainstream form of entertainment like golf or tennis.

I used to play (way back when) 9 ball with regular balls on a snooker table and it was awesome! I've always wanted to see pool played in a 5x10, and now my suspicions have been confirmed. I hope a LOT more matches happen on these tables.

Little bit of history:It is my understanding that many decades ago some leaders in the Billiards Industry wanted to create uniform standards for the table size.Southern States were playing on 8 foot tables and the yankees were playing on 10 foot tables.South did not agree for 10 foot tables and the yankees did not want 8 foot tables. But both sides comprimised when the leaders proposed 9 foot tables. That is how 9 foot tables came into existence.

Hmmm

Read the last line again, "Should be a winner on the internet." I did bet Shane but I'm not complaining or crying. Shit happens when you gamble!

Fair enough Jay, you were half right since you predicted the internet success..... but thinking Earl was going to get spanked on a 10 footer...;). Maybe I will take 2 and the breaks in banks !!! take care ! RJ

Jousting Cue

The PPV stream shut down after operating for only a short while. I don't remember that count but like another poster said, after they sent the stream over to USTREAM (not PPV) they kicked it up to over 2000. That's quite an accomplishment.

I agree people want to see Earl play. I think it was Earl's experience at playing for all these decades that helped him overcome the great talent of Van Boening. People can say what they want about Earl but his ingenuity in using ass-weights, strobe glasses, magnifying glasses, gloves, tape, finger extenders, cue extensions, cue weight enhancers, etc, it is these things and the way he thinks about them that helped him get the cheese.

I've wondered if Earl let Shane hits some balls with his Jousting Cue and what Shane thought if he did.

That 10 foot table needed a cue that could put some "ooomph" in the cue ball to make it move those large distances with precision and little effort.

Earl alluded to something else in his post interview. He said that he "really" like Shane Van Boening and you can tell he does. But Earl said it was too bad that when they compete Shane and he have to be enemies. Earl sees pool matches as a war between two men.

I thought that if I ever played him in a tournament, before we played, I would have a man to man conversation about how I hoped we would play our match. Now, I see I have no chance of talking with him. I'll either have to fight fire with fire, play better than him :p or try something more desperate. A pool match is a war for Earl and he wants to win at all costs.

No doubt, Bet Billy Chips is not laughing now with the 3 to 1 he was
giving

Actually I am laughing. I am laughing at all the people (like you) that said that they wanted to bet and conveniently never posted up when the time. Oh well, I will spend it on something else. Thanks

Hes a big time cry baby,it was entertaining to see at points, but somewhere down the line for myself the entertainment became a annoyance , and i was tempted to beat his face in, that cops presence kept me from that, but all jokes aside, it was a good match ,i only wish SVB was the victor.

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the updates. I appreciate it. Too bad paksat and other chose this thread to do all of their crying and complaining. Thanks again.

My view of Earl

You/we should be thankful we have an Earl Strictland in the pool world. He's not my favorite player but he is very entertaining and GOOD for the sport of pool. He fits the mold of what John McEnroe did for tennis and Mohammed Ali did for boxing. Give the guy a break...enjoy the show as that's all it is.

We could use a lot more personalities in the pool world. To bad Dippy isn't pro level, he is another one who would be good for pool.
In the past we had tuxedoed men playing great but it was Fatty who made the real money with his own TV show and slovenly looks.
The Billiard industry should create a reality show about pool even a scripted one with fighting and arguments and of course sex.
That is what kids today want to see.

shane might not get to 80 / over rated i say / lets see how many jump off the bandwagon nowwwww

Shane over-rated...
That's one of the most off-base I've ever heard.

Congrats to Earl for playing great. Too bad he spent so much time acting like a fool.
Earl is easily the best pure power 9 ball player that ever drew breath imo.
All possible props for that.
