Who are the 'Old Schoolers' of AZ

Otto went under the handle Ottopilot (he was / is a commerical airline pilot).

Barenada (David S. Siltz) still has a site up with a pretty good section on pool and some cool videos of him banking balls like a madman. : http://barenada.com/pool.shtml

Do you remember when Mountain Mike faked his own death in 2003?
Here's what he posted while masquerading as his nurse:

I thought Barenada was David something, but couldn't remember his last name. I posted before reading your post.

I actually do remember the MM saga, as well.

Just to help with the confusion over user numbers, I periodically go in and delete users who never posted and haven't logged into the site in over a year.

I also periodically go in and remove users who tried to register but didn't answer the confirmation email, if they are over a month or so old.

Mike

Thanks for the clarification.

so #1 - do you consider yourself an Old Schooler?

(and welcome to our lil thread :) )

Aye, since Mike started the forums I believe 1998 or '99. the dates were all reset when he's overhauled the forums, which has been I think now 3 times. I hate to admit my dinasaur status but I was one of the initial first 10 forum members. Think my memory could be fuzzy, would have to check with the man himself. Wow we're a bunch of "old" poots.

I'm doing well although my health took a really bad turn in '06 and I was not supposed to still be around this long. I'm disabled now. I still get out twice a week to play some pool although due to swelling in my legs and fatigue, I can't play for hours on end like I used to. The docs just didn't count on my will to keep on going! Like the line from Scarface said, "every day above ground is a good day"! :)

Thanks for the links, they brought back some good memories!

Very sorry to hear of your woes, Jerry. I know you'll hang tough.

Dave Stilz, I think. I saw him at the DCC for a few years, like maybe 10 years ago -- he was always playing in the banks, but then haven't seen him more recently.

I believe ASP was before RSB, but you would know, you were on 1-2 years before me.

ASP indeed started before RSB, but it as pretty much not in use for several years. It got "resurrected" when Sincerely Sam started posting there escaping forum police (and he needed policing). The term "jungle rules" when it came to pool forum posting started in ASP.

I miss alot of the old schooler's that have passed away. Some of
their posts were things you would remember for life. (I for one still
wonder if people do wash their feet in the loo)

But I really do miss Eydie Romano postings, she always seemed
to have great insight and a great sense of humour, and I wish she would
post once in awhile.

Hi Mrs. G, missed you around here :)

Hey, Koopster, that sure is a lot of vCash you got there in your virtual vPockets. :D

Can I put the vBite on you for a few vChips?

Hang in there, Jerry...

I haven't been around in AZ that long because I'm one of the idiots who continue to post on RSB, but I was there before JAM joined. I can remember telling her about the RSB Monkey Principle...

Some of you might recall... Donald Tees (the hippy fromWaterloo - RIP), Tony Matthews (the cue-maker), Gideon (still around but married and doesn't play as much), Protection Island Bruce Boyd, Pltrgyst (Slow Larry), and Paul Mon (RIP).

So you wanna bring up crushes, huh Joey? :) Let's talk AZ...

I'll start... My first AZ crush was LandShark77... Never met her, and never talked forward in any way to her either... But something about that girl's attitude made my hair tingle...:D

I can't remember the last ime she posted.
This is certainly worth of thread hijacking. AZ crush(es)? Easy:

So it was *you* who actually started the infamous Monkey Wars! ;)

Here's a snippet of your post to me:

Let me try to explain what happens when someone new joins a newsgroup like RSB and gets attacked.

Social Scientists put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling. Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder, all of the other monkeys, not wanting to be sprayed, set upon him and beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder. One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he wonders why none of the other monkeys are doing the obvious, but, undaunted, he immediately begins to climb the ladder. All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly.

He has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder. A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the crap out of him. This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he's not on the receiving end this time, participates in the beating because all the other monkeys are doing it. However, he has no idea why he's attacking the new monkey.

One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why.

Unfortunately you are this week's new monkey...

David "The Hamster" Malone

LMAO...Jennie, you can have it all if you promise to get that guy with you up to New England some time soon for a tournament. They're just not the same without Keith in them.

I'm taking the heat in recent times from Keith about this. He's really raring to go. I am realizing more and more that I'm living with a racehorse who needs to get out and stretch his legs every now and then. He misses pool a lot.

If I have my way, I want to go north, mainly because I have really enjoyed the pool tournaments up there in Yankee Country, especially the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour. Keith, however, has his eyes set on Las Vegas, a place that just gives me the creeps.

I guess we will both have to meet in the middle soon. They say good relationships have a lot of give-and-take. I guess it's my turn to start giving again. :o

There is a Seminole tour stop at Snookers in August

Mmm, Regina's meatballs. I like the sound of August, and a beautiful time of year, too!

We've never attended a Seminole tournament. This is doable. It's a half-day drive from where we live, and I won't lose much time away from my job. Unfortunately for Keith, my ball-and-chain job keeps me glued to the computer, just about 24/7/365. I'm chief cook and bottle washer. :sorry:
