ALL the GCs and Annversarys I've seen had 1 inch slate - 3 pieces, including 5 x 10 Snooker and Carom(Billiard). They all used a hardwood(Poplar) slate frame. IMHO - that is why some people think the slate is thicker than 1 inch. Dale
