Ryan Theewen (Rat Cues) Review

Nice review .. is that a big pin (3/8x10 or 3/8x11)in your cue or 5/16x14 thread (in Mueller website)?

I am curious about the joint. what is a "50/50 joint split" ? Also, it looks like a 3/8x10 pin, especially without the s/s joint. So what is it, kinda like one of those lambros super joints ?

The joint is a "half joint". Instead of the joint collar on the butt being a full 1", it is only 1/2" long.

every rat that ive played with has been great! i recently ordered one from him also and i cant wait to get it. great review my friend!

Well i just was at the pool hall today and this guy had a Rat Cue with a 314 shaft on it so I put the shaft on my Schon and it fit like a glove. But then I pulled the Rat butt out and put it on that and it played fantastic!I looking into one!

I picked up a Ratcue from Ryan during the Expo last week and echo all of the positive comments about him and his cues. He had several cues on display that gave a ton of cue for the money.

Do yourself a favor and give Ryan a call to buy a cue. You will be pleased.

I have one of his like yours. Mine just has different rings. The shaft I got kinda dwindled if you will. It just developed a huge amount of cueball squirt. I talked to Ryan about it at this year's expo. He immediatly offered a new shaft. I took him up on it. I had him use a different ferrule as I like a stiffer ferrule. I got the shaft on Teusday. All I can say is ,,,OH MY GOD. The shaft is solid as a rock. Very little if any squirt. Hits like a proverbial Mack Truck. I love this thing again. It's now back in my case as the spare shooter alongside my Josie sneaky.

Now for the best part. Not only did Ryan send me the new shaft. He returned the old shaft as well!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot express my admiration for this man. He is aces in my book. Ryan if you see this know that I am a big supporter and fan. One cannot ask for any better service tha what Ryan provided.

All of that for no charge. Making a customer happy is worth a lot more than the cost of a shaft.

Ryan it goes beyond happy. The words just fail me right now. You did all I asked for and more. I only wish I had the money for that ebony wrapless cue you had at the expo. It was so damn near perfect for my tastes. But right now money is too tight for a 420$ purchase. Besides I want a break cue next. We talked about it at the Expo. We will again when I have some money banked. Thank you again Ryan. You're reputation is well earned.

While at the SBE a friend left a beat up cue for Ryan to refinish. The cue had 20 years of abuse from being in bars. He got it back yesterday and couldn't be happier. The cue looks like new. Ryan repaired all of the gauges, dents and etc. The cue looks like it has never been played with.

He was a little hesitant to have Ryan do the work but Ryan had an album showing some of the work he has done. I also told him that many have praised his work on AZ and the posters are not easy on anyone that does not perform.

I knew his work would be good but I am so impressed that I am no longer worried about getting any battle scars on my cue because Ryan will be able to bring it back to "new" for a reasonable price. Just have to be careful about all the praise as he may raise his prices.

Will have to check out his cues at the next SBE after seeing his magic.

I am glad he's happy with the cue and the work. I understand people being hesitant giving the cue to anyone, including me. I just do my best to assure them that I know what I'm doing.
