No, this is not an NPR thread.

So, in my opinion all or at least most pool players are Democrats.
Why???

I say this because there is no way the are Republicans. Most Republicans do not believe in handouts, welfare or things like that. But pool players in tournaments and gambling environments all ways want hand-outs. Whether it is form room owners or sponsors they are always begging for more money added to tournaments, discounts on table time and spots during games. A republican would never want this so therefore pool players are Dems.

Just my observation.

A sponsorship is not a handout, it is a salary given or sought after because the person has the experience to warrent such.

Do not call me a democrat again please...i actually love my country

Are you assuming that everyone who plays pool is American? Nevertheless NPR please.

How is this NPR as it is definably pool related.

I am tired of hearing:

"I need a spot"
"I play here all the time shouldn't I get a discount"
"I paid 50cents for my 1st cup of coffee why do I have to pay for a second cup?"
"I am not playing in this open tournament unless it is handicapped cause I am a weaker player than Joe Blow"
"I am not playing in the tournament cause they are only adding a thousand and they should add more money"

Etc, etc, etc.

expecting "sponsors" to add money to a tournament is not out of line. they are SPONSORS after all.

sponsor - a person, firm, organization, etc., that finances and buys the time to broadcast a radio or television program so as to advertise a product, a political party, etc.

I am non-partisan when it comes to politics but would lean towards the right on the majoritty of issues.

I know alot of pool players that would certainly not be considered democrats, some would outright claim support of the right and others while non-partisan would clearly favor the right like me.

The pool world if full of an extremely diverse cast of characters, I do not think you could pigeon-hole the group into any single catagory that would be all encompassing for anything.

<edit> and BTW what you are talking about is about being cheap, it has nothing to do with political leanings at all and there are cheap people on both sides.

The pool tournament is not a democracy, it is a dictatorship.

While in a pool tournament I am a volunteer to supporting the tyranny.

If its just playing around, I'd much rather enjoy a good chat about the match and just shooting around. In that case it is more of a volunteer service.

I used to offer a "bottomless" cup of coffee for $1. I used to have a knucklehead that used to come in in the afternoon and buy a cup and have 2 or three. That's was ok with me. Then I would have to fight with him at 11pm because he wanted me to make a fresh pot of coffee for him because "I paid the $1 this afternoon!"

A scenario like this is definitely more like what I am talking about.

I want more and for free.

Also when matching up or begging for lower handicaps in tournaments. The weaker players always wants a hand-out via a spot because they didn't spend there time learning or how to play. And they feel like they deserve it. So basically there are expressing democratic tendancies.

From now on I am only going to gamble with true Republicans. Because that way I know that when I beat them playing they won't be begging for a spot or as they call it in the political world, "an entitlement".

so true its usually a liberal thats looking for a handout. and as far as sponsoring a tournament how is that a handout you are buying advertising and good will from potential customers.

Considering what is happening with online poker I thought pool tournaments are a vehicle for laundering cash. Players give in clean cash and promoters pay out dirty cash. Nobody audits the prize money or where it comes from.

I am not current on what a good exchange rate for dirty money to clean money is. But I am guessing $3 dirty dollars is worth at least $1 clean dollar.

If you use the IPT model thats $1000 entry with a $5000 payout for last place finishers, so it seem he had a $5 dirty dollar to a $1 clean dollar rate.

The higher the rate goes the faster the laundry gets done, because there is only so much clean cash out there, if you want it quickly it costs.

What kind of people does KT do business with anyway?
