Alex must not be playing as much poker lately cuz he is either winning or placing in every event he has beeb playing in lately..Congrats on your 1st place finish in a very stout 64 man field this weekend in Cali @ Hardtimes....The cream rose to the top once again !

The Lion roars

He's becoming the new Reyes...with wins at banks and 1-pocket also.
..had a few 'shane-like' breaks...same power combined with accuracy.

And he's threatening to play in the Canadian Snooker championship
this summer. My theory is that he wants to show Judd Trump how to
win at snooker....with a very bad hair-do..:shocked2::)

PT,
From your analog I'm going to assume that Alex did not show up to the 10 Ball finals drunk. Hopefully A.P.'s behavior at DCC was an aberration - but I have NEVER seen Efren behave so badly - he could do worse than use Efren for a role model.

And Chris Bartram finished strong, 5th place. If ya gotta get out, losing to Alex and Efren ain't bad.

Congrats, Chris.

Good point.
Quite a few top players didn't play well as they aged...they had the smarts,
talent, and heart but their life style made them old before their time.
Alex is struggling with being a prisoner of his persona. He's aware of the term
'hubris' and hopefully will mature well.

And Efren, along with the Pac-man, ARE great role models.

He beat Rodney among others. He was a bulldog in his matches. I was telling someone when we found out Lakers lost by 30 some odd points in their game 4; now you know the difference between the Lakers and Chris. Chris is all substance, heart and no flash.

3k for first, world class field...just sad

i could probably google 100 games people never heard of that pay more for amateur local tourneys

I know this much, those tables are very tuff to play on. The pockets are small and the tables can make you look bad if you're even slightly out of stroke. Alex made those tables look like bar tables!! What a great player he is. He has my respect, thanks Alex for the great play this last weekend and congrats on your win, I was thoroughly entertained!!!

Congratulations at hard times

I agree and Chris played like a champion.

Congrats to Alex.......pathetic payouts though,$3,000 for 1st.Wow,no wonder pool is in trouble.

They collected a total of $8k in entry & green fees and paid out $11.4k, so I think it was actually pretty generous. I'd like to say thank you to Hardtimes for putting on this tournament. This was the most talented field southern cal has seen in years. It was a great tournament and congrats to Alex for taking it down.

Great tournament

Hard times did good all the way around. Great field of champions. Great stream. Great play by a lot of individuals. Gotta give it to the ladies that threw they're money in and battled with the men. I'm sure that this attitude will do nothing but help they're game. Congrats should go to Melinda H and Jenny Lee along with Brittany B. Melinda and Andy and the others did a great job in the booth commentating. Well done by everybody involved, and of course Alex.

Context....
This was a good tournament when you consider that it is a 'pool hall'
tournament...pay-outs were pretty nice.

And I appreciate every who helped run it and stream it.

Didn't like to see Jose run outta gas in the b-side finals...
..think he owes us a post in the 'getting old must suck' thread..;)

..and I'd like to see Chris 'smiley face' Bartrum snap one off..
..it just might light up page one

I'd also like to say thank you to Hardtimes and all the sponsors for running an awesome event. Big thanks to Andy and his crew of commentators for bringing the FREE live stream to the fans. Was very cool getting to watch the non~stop action and listening to all the behind the scenes shenanigans.

And gotta give props to John Bertone of Kamui Tips for sitting in and answering everyone's tip/chaulk questions. He got grilled about the Kamui chaulk but really did a good job addressing everyone's issues. He definitely stands behind his product. That's getting hard to find these days.

Congrats to Alex for winning the tournament. His matches with Kenichi really showed why he is in the top 3 in the world. Kenichi came out slugging and was playing near flawless pool. His cue ball control and pattern choices were so controlled it was jaw dropping. But Alex was able to discombobulate him with his technical abilities and well rounded experience. Unbelievable how deadly accurate he is. He really just overpowered everyone to take the 1st place trophy.

Great match and a big thank you again to everyone that made it happen!

The only time I saw Efren get even a little miffed was when he was playing a ring game with Schmidt and he felt that John was deliberately playing safeties. Other than that, I've never seen Efren get anything more than just self-deprecating when he'd miss a shot.

This is such a joke, it puts such a terrible taste in my mouth every time I see the prize money. I wonder where Nadal or other comparable athletes would have ended up with payouts like this.... probably drunk, passed out and drooling on themselves in a gutter somewhere.

Yeah, but I'm sure Chris might be sayin' something more to the effect....''losing isn't ever good''.

I don't think Nadal would even swing a racket for $3,000. First place payout for this weeks tennis US Open is $1.8 million.
