Bad Titlist-lookalike on ebay

The shorter cues were used for straight rail or other forms of biliards where the butt of the cue had to be elevated during the game. The shortest one I have ever owned was approximately 53 1/2 inchs long with a Leather wrap.

Yeah, that's kind of what I guessed based on the first 'intelligent' response my original post (you can see my agreement and admission of ignorance if you read my above post).

Craig, you know me. I've never claimed to be an expert at ANYTHING. I posted this thread simply to warn people that this cue was no good for a conversion, as it's short. (edited to add: the splice starts too low)

I hate to bring this up, but as you know, anyone like myself or you, who's outspoken and willing to state their opinion, will have a little gnat or two chewing at their hindside, simply because they mentioned some bit of truth that the gnat didn't like having to face in themselves. Tommy is one of my many gnats. He's made some really stupid-ass comments about cuemaking, leading me to believe he fancies himself a cuemaker. I've called him out on his ignorant pomposity more than a few times. As a result, he's going to pop in and pop off any chance he gets. We can only hope that his mother is supervising while he plays with his lathe.

Thanks for your input. I'm outta here after responding to Nick - this was a public service announcement, not a gnat-whistle.

Also, Craig - this cue is 57" - not exactly short. That kind of puts us back at square one.

But again - doesn't matter. I said what I wanted to, had a much-appreciated opportunity to change Tommy's diapers again, and I learned something, though nothing said in this thread has explained why we're seeing a 57" cue that has points starting 6-7" too low.

Craig, if you have more information on these, I really am curious - please call or PM - but I have really grown quite tired of having to deal with children every time I start a thread over here, so I won't revisit this one.

I plan to play in that Sunday City Lights tourney every now and then. If you have one at your place on a Sunday, please let me know.

just measured

i just measured the 2 titlist i have with me, and the points end 22 to 23 inches from the butt.
these cues came with a gold crown purchased new back in the day, both have the green willie hoppe titlist cue lable.

Scott,

I'm missing something here. The pic with the tape measure shows the points ending about 22" from the butt (look at the 2 ft 24" tape mark past the points) so that's right for a 57" Brunswick. I'm guessing the cue was refinished at some point, so the weight stamp on the butt and BBC decal was sanded off.

Looks like a bad titlist but an authentic one.

Scott's just a baby..and doesn't want to admit he's wrong.
sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Seen plenty of crappy Titlists and 26.5s like this.....shame they let them out the door. Not sure about all the drama, but ones like these are really nothing more than antique novelty items. Points not good enough to spend the money on converting......might be good practice for someone, though.

A Great Education..(If nothing else!)

I love these threads..They are very good for learning who, and who not to deal with in the future!! Thanks guys!!
