Most Consistent Tips?

I recently got hit again by a mix-matched batch of LePros I had put on all my house cues. I may have fallen prey to someone using up the last of a box after cherry-picking singles for friends. Still if the tips were all shipped alike this wouldn't be an issue!

Just wanted to hear some opinions as to the most consistent tips. Not looking for a judgment of playability as I think that's too subjective.

Thanks!

A few years ago I would have said Moori medium but I hear they are not so good anymore. I've had fine results with Triangles.
Le Pros have been famous for not being consistent throughout a box for years, by the way.

True but you can but a whole box of LePro's for less than the cost of 1 layered tip these days. LOL

Back in the day, a long, long time ago. My tip guy used to always crush the Le pro's in a vice for 24 hours before he would install it on any stick. He said this always gave him good consistent results from any of the tips in the box.

I have tried almost every layered tip possible, I never did like the Moori's because it seemed like I miscued more often with them than anything else. But on the other side of the layered tip spectrum I like that Kamui's and the Snipers with Sniper being what I think is the absolute best for not miscuing and Kamui having the overall best feel.

But recently I have gone back to Le Pro's and I can't figure out why I ever stopped using them in the 1st place.

Everything you said is exactly what I have noticed from a player's point of view.
I don't install tips myself and I am not allowed within 25-feet of a pool cue if I have glue in my hands, so all I know about consistency is what I have heard.
One of my friends actually microwave's the LePro's & Triangles for about 10-seconds which seem's to help.

As far as playabilty is concerned, even though this thread is about consistency, Chris Byrne has a bunch of double pressed Lepro's that are getting a lot of attention, and I think Kamui Black soft has the best feel.
With all of the positive comments on Sniper, I may as well give them a try since I have a couple in my Skittles box of tips.

The Tiger Dynamite 5-layer tips are terrific, Hirano 4-layer tips are good as well, and I think the 3, 4, & 5 layer tips are the wave of the future for layered tips.
I've heard that Kamui is coming out with one too.

Has anyone tried the Madman 3-layered tips?
I may order a couple just to check them out

IMHO Most of the Tips made by Tiger Product in Burbank, CA are very good value, and very consistant!

I've been using Triangles for years. I put 'em on and forget about them until it's time to replace them. (They will dry out over time, as will any leather tip.)

really happy with my kamui soft! had a lepro, it was okay. then changed to moori medium, it sucked (glazed and mushroom). had about 24 hiurs of play with the kamui, no glazing, no mushrooming, and hitting and english much better! can't change to "triangle", my shaft is round.

I haven't had any problems with the box of Le Pros I have. I don't install many tho. Still working on the same box.

I would say Triangles also.

Check EBay for Delta Sports. They sell a tip called the California. 5 Layered tip and well made. You can get a box of 50 for under $50.

You won't find a better consistent tip for your house cues other than Triangle.

For a consistant 1 layer tip, milkduds from Muellers are very good,
Also are the Buffalo tips.
I have given up on all other 1 layer tips. I just can't be bothered buying a product and waste my time doing the quality control that should be done buy the manufacturer.
Sure if you sort through all the tips in a LePro box or ElkMaster box there will be mostlikely 10 or so really good ones.Price your labour at the shop charge rate and then the cheap tips are not cheap any more. Then what do you do with the ones left over?Give them away, to be slated as the guy who only has junk tips.No Thanks

There are alot of good quality consistant laminated tips on the market.
Tips good for consistancy that I have come accross are Tiger, Kamui, Husar,Wizzard,

i just cut off a bad lepro myself. most of them seem too dry and hard. i figured i'd have better luck because i got a 14mm one.

i've had good results with 14mm triangles and i just threw on a brown WB tip that cut really well. i'm looking forward to breaking it in today
