Custom made cue extensions?

I have seen the mezz and cuetech extensions and wondered what it would take for a custom cuemaker to build their own. What type of bumper would need to be used in order to do so? What has to be done to the butt for a custom screw in extension to be added..i.e. what type/size of threaded/tapped hole needs to be used. Does an insert need to be used? What would it cost to have such an extension made? (pm if need be)

Also, if you have pics of your own custom made screw in extensions please post pictures if you feel comfortable doing so. I like a lower profile bumper on my cues and would love to know if a custom extension could also be made to fit a polished bolt for a bumperless cue. I'm trying to compile some information for my next cue to be built. Thanks in advance :) Rob.

I'm more interested in the extensions that screw into the butt. Not to say I wouldn't be interested in seeing some pics of what you come up with. Just seems easier to screw something onto the butt rather than take the cue apart, put it back together with the extension, then take the extension of to put the cue back together again. Please do post pics.

I make them all the time. Two kinds. One that slides over the butt and one that is made to fit my cues with a 3/8 16 thread that screws in to the same hole as the weight bolt. I use socket cap screws (headless) so it is a very simple thing to do.

Uniloc insert and pin cost me about 10.00 at Atlas. Removed the weight bolt and retapped for the insert.

Very nice .. I have a cue with Deroo extension that is very similar. His design is to use the same pin as what's on the j/b cue so I'd just unscrew the j/b cue and stick on the playing cue for extension.

I'm going to experiment making something similar to your design ...

The ones I currently make go in between the butt and shaft, like in Chuck's 2nd picture. If it's a uni-loc pin, then these are great. On other pins it takes a bit to get them together, but most players still prefer it over using a bridge. Personally, I just put the extension on my backup shaft, and then use the butt of my break cue for that shot so I don't have to take it all apart to keep shooting. Just one of the advantages of having a playing cue and break cue with the same joint.

I've been messing around with a few different configurations to have something that screws in the the bumper, but haven't gotten it to where I really like the look of it.

One of the guys I shoot with just straps one of the plastic slip over extensions to his case and brings that with him.

another way

With this, you need the oponents permission to break the cue and add the center section. Otherwise , you run the risk of forfiture of game.
An extension to the back of the cue is not considered breaking down the cue.
Also keep in mind, that at all times the playing cue must be at or under 25 oz in weight.

Looks nice.

I like the rear bumper extension Chuck.
Looks like you and Earl could do some business in the future with the middle extension.
