I'd like to hear from some of you that have tried the Kamui super soft tip. I have a soft now and it plays well and puts a lot of spin on the ball. I have read a few posts on here with guys saying the SS grabs the cue ball better than any tip they have ever used. My questions is there that much difference in the amount of english or spin you can get on the cue ball by going from a hard, med, soft or to a SS or is it just about the feel of the hit.

Is Kumui any cheaper than Kamui?

I tried the Medium, Soft, and now the super-soft. Im giving up on them, the Super-soft plays too hard for my liking.

I tried to change the spelling in the title but i'm not sure how. Anyway if the SS is to hard for you. What tip do you use?

I tried 2 SS and cut them both off. A lot of people here like them. So it will be a mix of opinions.

I love the ss tan kamui.

So what didn't you like about them?

I think that if a person has trouble handling the extra spin and throw that the tip puts on the ball they might not like it.

I can handle it and love it. It plays double better than the best La Pro I ever had on back in the day and extremely consistent.

As far as I'm concerned there isn't even a close second as far as playability is concerned.

I have never played with a kamui on a conventional shaft though. I'vde only used it on a 314 2 predator. great combination.

I used SS for a while and liked them a lot. More spin? I don't know. I've been trying a medium for the last month or 2 and frankly haven't noticed a lot of difference. The SS did hold chalk better, I could get away with forgetting to chalk on a shot more often with the SS.

I have no complaints with them. I install quit a lot of them . What i like is they don't mushroom or wear like a soft tip.

WAAAAAAAY too soft. I can get all the spin I need out of a black medium, without the mushy feel.

Thats what I was wondering about.

I've heard TONS of folks absolutely RAVE about both the SS and the S, so take my opinion with a grain of salt....the M was a little spongy to me in the beginning. The more I wear it down the more I like it. I liked Everests with 2 to 3 layers left too. Just depends on what you like I guess.

I tried a black SS and did not like it at all. I took it off a few days later and put a Moori soft back on.

IMO, the feel is just too springy and mushy... almost like I had a sponge on the end of my tip. It affected how my cue (at the time, my Tad) felt when I hit it and it took away from what I liked about the hit of my cue... if that makes any sense.

Anyways, I did not like them. But this is very subjective.

I actually believe that you can put more stroke(spin, whatevr u wanna call it) on a ball with a firmer tip. In my experiences with tips, the soft ones always seem to squish down when you gotta power stroke it and end up with a miscue. A firmer tip, I've always felt more confidence in my stroke shots because I KNOW the tip isn't going to squish down and make me miscue.

Makes PERFECT sense Ray....The black medium I have on my cue now was a little too "springy" or spongy as well. It seems to have gone away after use, and a bit of grinding on it (filing it down).

The only Kamui's I have tried are the SS, so I cannot comment on how they are different then the other varieties. Prior to the Kamui's SS I have used Moori Slow, Triangles, and Kamui Brown S.

Compared to these tips I like the feel of the black SS' the best.

I have the SS Black on one shaft and the Soft on another. As far as spin on the cue ball I really can't tell if there is any difference between the two. I do feel the SS is a too soft for my taste and thus the reason why I bought the Soft. For me, the soft black has a similar hit to the Brown Medium which I have on a bunch of other shafts so I'm much more familiar with that hit and prefer it over the softer hit of the SS.

Kamui SS

I also came from many years of using Moori 'S' tips until they became just too hard to get. I tried the Kamui Black 'S' tips and, like others, after a couple weeks they would glaze over and miscue a lot. I was going to give up on them but a friend recommend trying th Kamui Black SS tips. Aside from the cost, I love them! Very consistent hit, and they last me quite awhile.

Definitely give one a try if you have the opportunity. You may or may not like it, but yours is the only opinion that matters here.
