Ending this Sunday evening 6/26, I'm auctioning off a very pretty TAD Flat Faced Big Pin Titlist Full Splice Pool Cue. I think the cue is described OK in the auction, but please let me know if there's something I can clarify.

My guarantee is simple, 100% satisfaction or return for complete refund. If the buyer feels that their dissatisfaction is due to a misdescribed auction, I refund all the postage as well.

This cue is being auctioned with no reserve price. The high bidder will win the cue. This auction won't disappear suddenly. I don't end auctions early. I don't have items for sale locally. This auction will run to the end. Interested buyers will all have an equal chance to bid and win the auction.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Good luck and thanks for looking,

Kevin

Page 5 bump for a sweet cue. I hit a few balls with this cue last night and it hits really nice. The wood in the butt is very beautiful also.

ps - I have the belt

:)

Is this cue made from a real Titlist blank?

If by "real" you mean made by Brunswick in America from 1939 to the early 1960s, no. Brunswick outsourced the manufacture of Titlist in the 1960s, and, as Tad pointed out to me when I asked him a similar question, the quality of the wood and the workmanship of the blanks completely improved. This is a modern Titlist full-splice blank, the points (both front and back) are extremely even (out of this world for a Titlist) and the wood is vibrant with even sharp veneers.

There was a guy on AZ last year that listed one of these cues claiming (mistakenly) that Tad had spliced it, which I knew to be wrong because that just doesn't happen. I talked to Tad back then about that cue and asked him basically the same "is it a real Titlist?" question and he laughed at me, telling me the quality was so much higher than the mid-century version. I saw this cue and was happy to have an opportunity to buy it. As an aside, the guy I bought this cue from had a couple of cues Tad had converted from older Titlists and I passed on those. Whether Brunswick is still outsourcing or if the company they outsourced to eventually bought the copyright, I don't know.

Thanks

Kevin

Enjoy the Sunland/Tujunga Heavyweight Championship 9 Ball Belt while you can.

The cue auction is at $1,700, which seems a fair place to be mid-week.

Thanks

Brunswick is currently outsourcing to Kao Kao! Previously, it was Schmelke and Miki (Adam).

So this cue is actually a Titlist "Tribute"?

What size is the pin? Looks like 15/16 x 18.

I think the pin is 3/8 x 12

I don't understand your question about the tribute. If Brunswick is outsourcing, how is the result a tribute ?

If you are saying that any Titlist made after the 1960s (for Brunswick) were tributes, then yes this blank is a tribute as I'm guessing Tad made this cue from a fresh blank around 7 to 10 years ago.

Thanks

It would be a "tribute" because Brunswick did not make it. In fact, 7-10 years ago Brunswick "outsourcing" was to the Miki company. The same company that made the Adams Balabushka tribute. With that said...the cue, regardless of where the blank came from, is still a TAD! It is also a very nice looking Titlist Tribute! GLWS

I've had several people tell me their version of what qualifies to be called a Titlist. Tate and I were on the phone and I will tell you, his version is quite different from yours, and I think that's the point. Everybody had a different interpretation of "Titlist". Tad called it what I call it and, well, that's good enough for me.

As far as people asking me is that a "real" Titlist, really I'm far more interested in getting the information my buyer desires out to my buyer than telling by buyer how to think. In order to to that I really need to know what he means by Titlist. and as I have found out, it mean vastly different things to different people. Thus when people ask, I ask them what they mean.

This cue is clearly not made from a blank manufactured by Brunswick, or converted from a cue made by Brunswick up to the late 1960s. I'm sorry to the purists, but how I can say this with conviction (and as Tad pointed out to me) the quality of the blank is way too high for that. Brunswick outsourced Titlist after 1970 to a series of companies and may have sold the copyright to the name subsequent to that. I judge this cue to be "about" 7 years old (there has never been a driver in that butt screw and I won't be the first), to say that that means the blank Tad used was also 7 years old is to misunderstand the way Tad works. I will guarantee that blank he used was not 50 years old. I would say its a safe bet that this blank was manufactured in Japan, Tad (for some reason) is very high on the quality of the Japanese product.

Thanks again

Kevin
