ABP may be fixing games and tournaments

Pleased

This was posted in another thread and it got me thinking that since all these players are in one organization, what happens if 4 members were placed 1st through 4th. Would they chop it up?

This is a possible scam and fraud by this organization to steal money from tournaments. This is why the integrity of pool will always be where it is today.

There should be a board to investigate some of these backroom dealings....it happens all the time in the local scene....this is the same but in a grand scheme.

Ok, let’s say 4 players enter a tournament, and then beat everyone in the room, and chop it at the end, who cares? They beat everyone else so what’s wrong with splitting the money.

Now for fans the matches should be played out and played hard, but if they choose to split the money, then so what. THT is NOT stealing money from the tournament, they paid and entry fee, won, and split their money how they see fit.

At the end of the day they won money, so they can split it with their friends if they wish, this idea that the integrity changes the game is complete crap.

Now, racking wars -- wiring balls, slugging people on racks, sharking people, doing drugs, hustling, and all around cheating is what the problem with pool is. It definitely isn't worthy of a thread of its own.

Want to change the sport? Don't like it? Think you can do better? Then go ****in do it, or stop *****ing about something you are never going to change. The players need to change the sport, they need to make promoters have integrity and that is what the ABP is trying to do. Look at Galveston, what a crock of crap, they promised over 1 Million in play and it was MUCHHHH less than that. Then Berry B owing people money for months at a time, complete crap. Then you get these crap little tours that start up, charging players tour cards, and producing nothing.

Pool needs to change from the players, and the players need to have control, not the promoters, because at the end of the day the people making the money now is the promoters, not the players. (For the most part this holds true, not always the case)

To sit behind a computer and act all big and mighty and wine about players trying to take hold of their own destiny is crap, who are you? A no body, just like me and the rest of the schmucks on this forum who are all bangers at best. Your all your little own PRACTICE champions, and nothing more, so stop writing about pool like you know something, and stop sitting there acting all pleased as punch, as if you just did something.

So let me get this straight. Someone in the past chopped up a pool tournament??? Wow next ur gonna tell me santa clause aint real. Guys like u are the reason i dont post on the forum anymore. 100 posts a day about the same thing and u really dont know much about all the things you talk about. Seems like u just want to hear urself talk.

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with 2 pros doing a saver at any time during a tournament ! It is the players hard earned money and they have every right to do with it as they please ! It doesn't mean they are dumping. if anything, they are more relaxed and will give you guys a better show for your money. I hate dumping. that is not what a saver is about. If any of you guys have any questions on this matter I will be happy to answer them in the best way I can so you will understand the reasons behind what we do . Thanks everybody who understands in advance ! LOL

Good luck explaining that one Shawn. As most people on AZ have no clue what a saver is. Some do but many don't. And they definitely do not know that it has nothing to do with dumping or how well both players will still play in the match in question. Nor do they understand how good of an idea it is to do a saver.

SOOOOOOOOO with that said. Please give me your best explanation of what a saver is and ow it is not dumping or hurting side bets or Calcutta's.

When they ran Earl out of that tournament after he had won a big tournament just before that, I was wondering if there was some funny business going on.

On many occasions when playing the hot seat match or a spot in the money
I will cut a deal there. No dumping. We both want to win the tournament, but we are just locking ourselves in the money. When 2 players meet in a match that can go either way real easy and it guarantees us both money
most of the time we will not risk it.

Ok, Say you are in the losers bracket and your playing your match to see who advances to the next round , which is for last place money ! The winner is guaranteed $1000 for the match and the loser doesn't cash at all. Entry fee for the tourny is $300. There is nothing wrong with making an agreement that the winner of the match gives the loser $300 back out of the 1000 so he at least gets his entry fee back ! That is a saver ! If we made millions like golfers we wouldn't even think of doing savers cause we would already be rich ! Hope this helps educate !

hmmm

Shawn, most do get it. Unfortunately, the AZB trolls don't get it and enjoy taking pot shots at pro's and just about anyone else for that matter. We don't like the trolls either, but they are like roaches, you can ban them, but they always find their way back.

I have one Shawn- I have "saved" myself many times. Seldom have I seen it be a 50/50 split, but more like a 60/40 split, winner of the match getting the 60 of course. Usually when I see a 50/50 it is between two guys that rode together and it happens before the tournament even is drawn. Two road buddies just agreeing to split what they win total. I see nothing wrong with savers at all. Dumping, yes, savers, no.

Now, my question for you is this- how do you pros usually split? 50/50? Or something else??
If your in the car together, 10% ! If you are good buddys and meet in the middle than roughly 20% of the difference of both players winnings ! Near the Finals it may be a high dollar amount as a saver ! IMHO

Shawn, is this true. I heard that one time you made soo many savers during an event that you actually made more that 1st place paid.

Believe me I understand !

Savers in local tournaments are as common as daylight.

Never compromised the tourney by just splitting the total pot, nor did it before getting to the money rounds.

If you have any proof, I think you should post the specific players names and not just make it a blanket statement covering everyone who is a member.

i would like to ask mister putnam a question since he is a respected player by many and ask him why the seeding should take place in a open tournament. i go to the derby city classic and they do not seed and it is a truely amazing place to be every round every day to watch top players from all over the world play. my belief is if i pay a entry the same as a pro in a open tourney i should have the same opportunity to get the same draw as they do and not be seeded. do you feel as if you should have a higher seed than be because yes you are a better player and yes the fans do come to see you but this is not an exibition it is a tournament and every entrant should be treated fairly in my opinion. i understand you travel and have expences but so does the average guy who takes the week off of work that is guaranteed money to go play and pay the same expenses as you in the tournament s i want the same shake as you in the draw. honest opinion i would love to hear a top pros opinion and so would others because i have not heard one pro say why other than they dont wanna have to play a player like eferin if you travel but there are several weeker players that travel also so what is the diffrence

PM replied to. Go ahead and post my response if you would like !

i have no reson to post you answered me respefully and honestly and thank you for taking the time for doing that. i see your point in paying your dues but one question i have never been to the us open but i would love to go it is a dream of mine. is the attndance as good in a seeded tournament as it is in a no seeded tournament. as a spectator in a non seeded it is very exciting to watch a non seeded because usually every round there is that jam up match that is amazing to watch. and i feel if it was seeded the early rounds wouldnt be like this.
