'Unofficial'..... USA Mosconi Cup Points list tightening up

I didn't think that the Seminole Event this past week was a Mosconi Cup Ranking Event just a BCA one. As I understood it the Mosconi Events are:

Steve Mizerak Championship 4-7 November
Turning Stone Winter 16-19 December
The Masters 1-5 March
Players Championship, Valley Forge 13-16 March
Ultimate 10 Ball Championship 21-24 April
US Open 10 Ball Championship 16-21 May
Seminole Tour Event 3 5-7 August
Turning Stone Summer 8-11 September
Seminole Tour Event 5, Steve Mizerak Championship 16-18 September
The US Open 9-Ball Championship 16-22 October

You're right. I think people are confusing the BCA ranking points with the Mosconi Cup ranking points.

Earn Your Keep!!

I'm a firm believer that the players who've made the team should be those who have played most consistently and have the points to reflect their play. Whomever the top three are that secure points, I will support them and our team (USA) come Mosconi Cup time.

I know that there has been some tentative support towards the parts of Mike Dechaine and Earl Strickland. These two are very dynamic and explosive figures both with their play and their demeanor. However they carry big sticks, (Earl quite literally), and deserve their opportunity if they finish top 3 in points.

With regards to Earl, as much as he's explosive at times, he's the best pure ball pocketter you're ever likely to see and in 9 ball he's regarded as the best ever by many. If he makes the team I believe he should be supported by the many Americans in attendance both at the venue and watching over the internet. Lord knows he'll win his share of matches out there and with his experience he may prove to be more valuable than people may assume.

As for the final two, I know Matchroom will do a great job and Service to the American team as well as the event in their selection. I hope they honor the standard of the past and put the Winner of the US OPEN on the roster if he's American. Despite all the hubub about the ABP and their boycott of the Open, it is still the hardest event on earth to win, save maybe the World tournament. Nonetheless, I know many top American Players will be playing their heart out to win that title, including myself. If someone comes through the field to take it down, I'd love to have them be on the team.

It's going to be a great race to the finish and most definitely a great event. I'm looking forward to see what happens in this year's event. I also know that starting next year I will be competing in every Mosconi Cup qualifying event, and starting my bid to make it to the team. It's my dream and passion to compete for team USA's glory, it has been since day 1. Here's to an outstanding Mosconi Cup 2011, a team USA victory this year, and hopefully one in the future for me!

All the best,

Raymond Linares

Good luck next year and maybe I will see you in London December 2012. You are right about Matchroom I have spoken with Luke many times and he will do what he feels is right for Matchroom.

And if we have five of you on the team based on that statement then the Europeans will be going down for sure! :D

This past week's Seminole event was never a Mosconi points event. They have them on their site:
http://www.seminoleprotour.com/schedule

Their two events that became Mosconi points events 2 or 3 months ago when the international events were dropped from the list are the Rhode Island and Mizerak tournaments.

If Shawn is Shawn Putnam, him and Johnny need a year to sit and think.

Bob
You are absolutely correct, they were a great crowd and Michaela controlled things really well on the odd occasion it was needed. They were brilliant outside the arena too, I don't think I have ever enjoyed any Interntaional Competiton (at any Sport) as much as I did this one and I've been to a lot.

I know SVB was amazed at the noise and the vibrations generated by this crowd and everyone knows if he's amazed at that level of noise it was LOUD! He looked around several times and just said this is crazy (in a good way) with a huge smile on his face, he loved it. This is absolutely what Pool needs, to generate this sort of atmosphere and rivalry and maybe, just maybe things will start to happen. Unfortunately I don't think we can get to Vegas this year, but if it's back at York Hall, as I understand it maybe, we are going again next year. It was great meeting all the other US Fans, well the few of us that were there. I would suggest anyone who is even considering going to a Mosconi, make sure you visit a York Hall Match at least one year. It's one of those things that simply should be on every Pool Fans Bucket List.

For what its worth and thats not much but my team for this year would be:

Johnny
Shane
Dennis
Mike
and then 1 from four Corey, Stevie Moore, Hunter or Shawn and I can't decide which.

Well, no matter who gets on Team USA, it will be nice to have home-field advantage! :D

Every player has a streak in pool, with some holding onto it longer. That's what separates the lions from the lambs.

For me, though, I do enjoy seeing the young, new kids on the block making their appearance in an event such as this. I like seeing the veteran players as well. They complement each other with their wisdom and enthusiasm for the game, and that's what makes a team.

All the negative comments about Earl and Dechaine by some of the other potential team members smells a little funny and I question a little some of the motivation behind it. Given the way the ABP has been conducting itself I can't help but wonder if some of the stuff that's been said against these two players has something to do with the fact that neither has signed on with the association, coincidentally probably the two most high profile US players that haven't.

Ironically, one of the results of the boycott of the US Open may very well likely be high finishes for Earl and Mike in the US Open, cementing their places on the Cup squad. If I was any of the other players in contention for a spot I'd be less concerned right about now with Mike and Earl making the team and more concerned with making the team myself.

If I was a betting kind of gal on the Internet, which I've never done, I'd give 3:1 odds that the ABP members *will* be at this year's 2011 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship.

I attribute this latest turn of events as the squeaky wheel gets greased.

So Jen, what you democratically saying is... that you like to see *everyone* on the team.

In that vein, can I be on the team? I promise to "compliment" everyone about their wisdom and enthusiasm for the game! :p

LOL. As long as you compliment your team members, I think you'd be a great complement to the team! :canoodle:

[Yes, you made me look. LOL] :o

We just had a discussion about "therefore" and "therefor" on my industry forum. Did you know there's a difference? I didn't until today!
