Could this possibly be real?

ridinda9...Jay Helfert lives in Redondo Beach. Maybe he can go "see" the cue. In the L.A. Basin, with it's insane traffic, it's not exactly a hop, skip and a jump from where Tate lives to far south Orange County.

Tate ,
You're in Burbank . This cue is in Redondo Beach . Might be worth the 30 mile drive to examine this !
Just sayin .

I think I might put a bid in either way. For the price, it might be worth the risk.

I think the bidder, Y***E most likely has a high bid on it.
If you can figure out how much his limit is, you can out bid him once and then let him take over one more time, then, if you have a Sniper, Snipe it.
You don't know if he or any of the others are using a Sniper either.
Y***E definitely wants it bad at this point, you just have to find out what his limit might be.

I'm not interested enuff in it at this point to play around. It will be interesting to see the bidding go when it gets close to the end date.

I am currently the high bidder. I figure I might get lucky. Maybe..

However, I have contacted a friend stationed at Pendleton who will go look it over for me. If he smells anything fishy, I will be retracting my bid. On second thought, someone should ask Jay. He knows his shit better than my buddy.

Hes bluffing.
I can tell.
Just teasing ya bud. Hows the ankle BTW?
The only thing we have around here are ugly little Prairie rattlers.
I used to do a lot of upland game hunting with my dog in their main habitat and haven't ever seen one.
Of course, bird season is late fall so they are probably hibernating or pretty sluggish when the weather turns cold.

Edit. Ooops, ya got in on me before I posted.

Getting Better. It still has some discoloration, but its not swollen up anymore. I should be fine in a couple more days.

Can they tell whether you got any venom or it was just a dry bite?
I guess they could if you had blood work done eh.

In his description.

It does look like a SS joint but you can see a little discoloration on the joint at the bottom near the collar.

Pictures can be deceiving at times, but still it looks like shiny SS.

Definately a Brass joint. SSTL does not tarnish like that.

I think the bumper was added, and that it very likely came without a rubber bumper like many in that era, but I thought Rambow rounded the end of the pin. This appears to be more similar to a Brunswick Hoppe at the joint, and Rambow butt.

Note to Mr. Tate:
Nice Rambow! Glad to see you still have it. If I understand correctly, I think Mr. Haddad's son lives in California these days. His name is Mark.

Yes, love the cue.

On Mark Haddad being around here, probably not. Interestingly, there are two Mark Haddad's who are good pool players. I thought it was the one who is living in Colorado, but it's not. He's around here quite a few of the tournaments.

If you have info to the contrary, please let me know.

Take care,

Chris

Just saw the Rambow cue. It looks correct to me with the exception of the bumper. The joint is indeed tarnished brass and the butt cap looks to be ivory.

The owner semed to be a good guy. He does not play pool. He is an Architect here in L.A. The cues were his brothers who was a player. He was also 6'-5", hence the longer shafts.

The top bid on this must have been cancelled, because it's priced much lower now...Makes me wonder....

Whoever outbid 12 Ounce Curl or 12 ounce Curl himself withdrew their bid. Not much to wonder about on this cue anymore except when it was made. I think 1950's myself.
