Got a cue for my birthday on July 14th from my Father-In-Law.

Well today this happened.....

I've contacted the retailer, lets hope this turns out well. What are yall's opinions on this particular damage?

IMO, it sheared at the last thread which tells me the fastener shanked out before seating and torque was being applied.

But if that was the case, the sheared off part would be stuck in female side unless it was drilled out.

I was shooting a jump shot, hit the ball, drew back and the shaft fell off. I never dropped it or overtightened it.

I am witholding the manufactuer's name till I hear back from them. From what I understand this person is pure awesome and will probally work to get it fixed.

Didnt have to drill it out, used a pair of mets to grab the leading edge and backed it out.

i think it was going to happen in the near future, regardless. What material is the shaft collar section made of?

Have you ever heard of bolt stretch? I believe that is what happened in this case.

I think the joint must have worked loose before the jump shot and when you hit down on the cue ball it snapped.

never heard of bolt stretch before...

I am not sure of the collar material. Will check shortly on my way to golden corral now.

Good thing you didn't try to call the manufacturer. That would have been a real long distance call. Might need a Mandarin translator also.

hmmm

ummm, I don't think your father-in-law likes you much !! Not a whole lot of thought into this gift !! just saying

Should have known it was either a Tad or a Frog by the joint.

Yes, made in China. I had both. The finish on the Tad Pole bubbled and the wrap on the Frog unraveled. There was absolutely no trace of glue under the wrap. I was lucky and traded the Frog plus $40 for a Jacoby.

Now, you want to see something that jumps. Try a Jacoby.
Just ask for a refund now before its too late and buy a Jacoby for about the same money.

Sorry for being kind of a bearer of bad news. I don't like putting down other peoples choices of billiard equipment but it is what it is.

I got 3 jump cues for about the cost of one so they were dirt cheap. I sold 2 for the total cost to me so the Frog ended up being free.
Now I don't have a green tomato stake in the garden.

Looks like the joint on a $20 WalMart cue. Maybe it was K Mart where I saw cues with this type of joint. I could only laugh when I saw those things. I guess for $20 you get what you paid for.
