The Break - Ball in Hand after the Break and the Five Ball

If there was enough money in nine ball and one pocket back in Willies' day, I have no doubt he'd be a champ at that too. Maybe not dominate like he did at 14.1, but still do quite well.

People forget how good he was, and forget that Efren had problems crossing the finishing line in his early years.

Gonna stick up for Efren here.
Willie wasn't contending with as many 'rapid fire' situations as Efren.
Don't think Willie would have won as many titles if he wasn't playing
round robin.
Don't think Raymond Ceulemans would have won so many carom titles
either.

Maybe the first time I disagree with you. Dennis might run 4s and 5s, but a bottom tier pro will run 6s and 7s getting the 5 ball. I cant believe anyone on earth could give Shaun Wilkie the 5 ball and not go broke. And I would call him a lower end pro.

I dunno, Mon. I seen some unbelievable stuff in the pool room.

You might emerge sad.

Two questions:

1. Was Shane playing on the same table as Earl?
2. What was the final score?

The guys who would like to place an asterisk next the "W" beside Earl's name are probably the same guys who lose to someone on a bar box and then say, "Yeah well, I could beat him on a nine footer." Do you see the similarity?

Aww, come on 210x2!

Earl was better prepared. Laugh all you want at the 810" cue, but it was HUGE:rolleyes::D;)

I am also 105x4, fwiw. :)

Also, whose fault is it that Earl was better prepared? Shane had plenty of time to prepare for the match, if he didn't do an adequate job, that's on him.

The super giant cue was ridiculous, but I'll bet Earl made at least a few shots that he wouldn't have been able to make with a standard 58 incher. Maybe Shane should have thought outside the box a little more...

I read somewhere out of all the 14.1 titles willie won, many of them were almost a joke. To be honest I can't remember the details, but something about the war perhaps and the best players not being around (somebody please correct me if details are wrong).

Also, 14.1 is a good game, but the whole kicking and rails aspect of the efren willie matchup i feel would be very lopsided. I said Efren would rob willie in most games in my first post, i'm sure that was out of line, but i do think Efren was the superior player.

Ok

If it ever happens I will bet whatever I have in my bank account. Unfortunately for me thats rarely over a grand.:(

I don't know about the war aspect , but I believe Willie won some titles when Caras and some of the other top players were boycotting Brunswick.
I always thought that might be why Joe Procita came in second 5 times to Willie, not sure though. I have heard that Procita was great player and maybe it was just coincidence.
