Is it uncommon for tournament winners do jump into action after placing 1st with their winnings?

It depends on who is the winner?
Some players feel that if they won the tournament they must be playing hot. That is how so many hustlers have come away with the tournament winners money.
On the other had some players find it hard to have any cash and it they are hard core gamblers they will look for action.
But there is no rule that you have to take on action after winning a tournament.

It is a curious question...
It's not uncommon. First, spread a little jelly towards the tournament director and then gamble a little.
That is unless the tournament finals were played at 2 A.M. That seems to be a little too common as well.

I won a tourney once, and I have been to Canada, so I feel I am qualified to comment:
As an event winner, you usually have a pretty good bead on the table. Advantage.
As an event winner, you have focused on a goal, reaching it. Gotta be careful that you aren't mentally or physically zapped. Disadvantage
Course, there is no better way to turn your $1500 into $4500! And few things will madder you up more than turning your $1500 into -$1500.
I think it is like any other time you might consider playing. No different.

I would say it used to be more common, but now the tournaments get over so late, and like said before, usually only the last 2 in the tournament are there, so that limits any action.
I would say it would be more common for action to be going on in the 1st or 2nd day of a 3 day tournament.
