Gallbladder Attacks!

Holy **** this hurts.

I'm slated for surgery wenesday, but these things are killing me. The pain pills they gave me barely take the edge off it.

So I've been reading up on homeopathic remedies. Some of them seem pretty wild. Anyone tried anything that helps with the pain? I'm open to suggestions.

On another note...I know the surgeon, he dug shrapnel out of me in Iraq. Small world huh?

I have a lump in my gall bladder. I know what the pain feels like when you get an attack.

Swallow as much air as you can and then force yourself to burp.
It relieves the pressure somewhat.

I watched my wife go through it, and nothing really worked for the pain. Are they going to remove your Gallblatter? If they do it will take care of the problem, but you will have to watch what you eat because certain types of foods will make you sick.

Take care hope you feel better

There is little to my knowledge that can be done for pain. I had mine removed three years ago. If it sets off your pancreas it is worst. I had to wait three days in a hospital bed with only a few ice cubes a day before they would operate. Good luck, I had mine removed on a Wednesday this same time of year. I was released the next day.

Double check because I don't know anything about gall bladders other than that my brother breaks stones in them sometimes with a half million dollar or so "hammer". The heat might or might not pacify the unhappy nerves firing off but your muscles knot up trying to protect the area that is hurting and add to your misery. The heat at least helps them back off.

I would be very cautious about taking anything even things that aren't considered medicines. Herbs and other remedies often have real medical effects and can keep you from having the surgery for awhile. If you do decide to try something be sure your doctors are aware of it. Many a procedure is shut down because a patient has taken something that affects blood clotting or creates other issues.

A little self hypnosis can help if you are into such things. Easier said than done as I know the hard way but simply accepting the pain and ignoring it is about the best I have done. Doesn't make it go away but can make it tolerable. Trying to fight the pain just makes me more focused on it and makes it seem worse.

Sorry to not have any great advice but there isn't much you can do medically other than what the doctor prescribed. Good luck and hang in there, better times ahead for sure!

Sounds painful. My dad had kidney stones and it destroyed him. He had to visit the hospital monthly to get them blasted. From what I hear they stick something through a place nothing is suppose to enter. I mean think about it, its water tight. But thats kidney stones. Bladder stones, my mother had and just got through surgery. It wasn't all that bad, she came home the same day. But the kidney stones, man! it's no joke.

Wonder what to stay away from, if you don't want stone. Please tell if there is a doctor in the house.

demeroll...demerolll...demerolhhh...demeroahhhh... emeroahhhhh...
merahhhhh....rahhhhhh.....ahhhhhhh ...yessss

Ok, you want holistic, I'll give you holistic. Ancient Chinese holistic.
Call your best buddy and have him come over. Stand in front of your best buddy and spread your legs apart. Ask buddy to kick you in the nads as hard as he can.

Guaranteed, you won't be thinking about your gall bladder for awhile.

There are a buncha options now depending on the stone. Lasers and ultrasound that are targeted with x-rays on two planes aren't invasive but the ultrasound is like pounding on somebody with a blunt object according to reports. Lasers burn tissue of course. Surgery can involve a scope or open surgery.

Usual causes of stones are dehydration over a long term, not drinking enough fluids, or the stones can be more common from the type of foods you eat and drink. Some people are just much more prone to them than others.

Secondhand info from listening to shop talk, been awhile since I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express even so take all medical information from me with a generous dose of salt!

Oh yeah, one other thing, stones often have spines on them making them much more fun and of course breaking them creates sharp edges that have to pass out through somewhere!

Thank you sir. I'm in big trouble. It's all tofu and water from here. Makes you want to thank goodness we live in a country that can tend to these ailments.

Oh yes. It will make you wish you didn't have a PP.

But hes just having his gall bladder removed I believe. Todays medical practices are much more precise.
I think they put a catheter up your PP and attach the other end to a vacuum cleaner. Then they suck your gall bladder out your PP.
I should know, I work in a hospital.

By the time the OP and the other readers get through reading this thread we will probably have knocked a few billion off of health costs, nobody will want to go anywhere near a hospital!!

Been there, done that.. The pain is excruciating but you'll feel like a new man once it's been removed..

Beware of fried foods afterwards and always keep in mind the nearest restroom location.. :)
