This has happened to me a few times already.
I had a new Kamui black Soft tip installed on a Z shaft by professional cuemaker, then the tip completely fell off the ferrule after 30 mins of play.
Any solutions?
Thanks.

This can happen with ANY tip.

I would contact the cuemaker and I'm sure he will hook you up.

How long after the install did you start playing with the cue?

Sounds to me like Kamui refused to sponsor your events and since you can't boycott them... :). Is this necessary?

Possibly the tip wasn't prepped properly.

Some other tips, Moori for example will wick up more glue into the tip leaving
less glue on the surface of the tip and ferrule.

I prep the tip with thin CA first and let it dry. Scuff it up before gluing.
I do the same on the surface of the ferrule.

Kamui Tip

Tell the cue maker to use Loctike glue, and sand on glueing bottom of tip and rough up service.

Without seeing his prep sequence or knowing what glue he used,my best answer is the soft, slightly waxy plastic on Predator shafts. If not handled correctly,it can happen to anyone.

He could have also not have a dead-flat ferrule to glue to.

Bad glue possibly.

Maybe his sanding on the back of the tips he installs could be suspect. Most people use a wood block with the paper glued or stuck to it. Some just sand the back on a flat sheet of sandpaper. I use not one but 2 flat ground steel plates with adhesive backed 180 paper on one,and 320 on the other. I also use the other side and check the flatness before I go any further. Tommy D.

This is pretty peculiar to have a cue tip regularly falling off. I use Kamui tips and none have ever fallen off. You say you use a professional cue maker to have the tips installed so that can't be it. He must be using the proper glue and techniques so that can't be it. The tips have been tested by world champions and the minions alike so that can't be it.

Who is your cuemaker? I would like to talk with him.

Thanks,

These posts are right on.

Even experienced cuemakers/tip installers can have some unknown factors messing with the glue bond.

Good info guys.
