Secrets!

They might not be called "secrets" but there Is alot about bank shots that most people don't know.I can't count the times I've watched a world class player hit a bank shot the exact wrong way.I wouldn't call what I know secrets, really just methods and techniques that most people just don't know.I'm not putting many out yet cause I'm In the process of making a dvd and book. When I do alot of players will be shocked to say the least.
If I have a secret with banks,It's that I make the pocket play like It's about 5in. when my opp.,on the same table at the same time are playing
on like 4in pockets.Pretty big difference. IMO to many people are looking for the holy grail when they should be putting alot of time In with practice.

I won't be around here much so let the bullets fly! lol

J-Bizzle is back boys....get the dogs. J/k.

I've seen you play and I will not accept the possibility of hitting a million balls the wrong way and eventually playing like you do. All the big boys knows this. You're a banker, so you know banking is a whole different ball park. I agree that the objective is to open the pockets...thats no secret.

But there is a passage. The Champs ALL know this, including you. Is it possible to bank like you without this passage? So what it be, John Bizzle? Love or Money?

I do not understand your questions, none of them.Care to do that again?

It's street for Brumback...my nizzle.

Maybe it's not worth the trouble, I don't want the state of Kentucky to hate me. Although I find what I have said to be valid, I'm afraid any misunderstanding may lead people into thinking I did them wrong by disagreeing with you. I know some pros have been chased away from malicious words of those who don't know what they are talking about. So the few that are left such as yourself shouldn't have to deal with any negativity. Your honest insight to the game is much appreciated.

Oh Ok! That's cool. no worries. Now what was your questions, JK lol.
I learned the banking "secerts from one man, although he couldn't describe It very good,It was enough for me to figure out and hitting about a half a million balls. And thank you.John B.

a serious question for a banker

I do not understand your questions, none of them.Care to do that again?

Is it just me or was it easier to long rail bank with the napped cloth when you had to consider if the ball was curving in or out if you didn't fire it hard?

The main banking secret I know is think long think wrong. Get down on the shot and fire.

I think I understand your question. For me,I don't think or remember that there was much difference,vs the old nap cloth vs the new.
I guess I think slow because It takes me some time on certain shots cause
there Is so many variables that go Into some banks. Is It humid. Is the table dirty,Is the cloth new or old,Are the balls clean or not,Am I upstairs or downstairs. and a few more.Am I trying to get shape,am i trying to shoot the shot the free way. There Is alot that goes on and Into some bankshots.(alot of bankshots) Hope that helps.John B.

just reminds me . . .

John,

You just reminded me it is a hell of a lot easier to fire in the occasional bank than it is to play banks. I played the rare game of banks when somebody was inclined but it just isn't played down here.

Banks should lay to the hole, right? How do you open the pocket?

What do you mean,"lay to the hole"? I have never heard of that.

How to make the pocket play big Involves holding the bank IE:shorting It up. It's not always Inside english though.Sometime It's outside english but you would still be holding the ball up and briging It In at a better angle.(making the pocket play as big as you can)
Man your trying to make me just give my secrets away.JK JK lol John B.

Feel free to spill the beans anytime John.
I, as am sure many others would jump on that DVD idea anytime you put it out there.

You mean Dr. Dave's site? Here's what I said:

"...all the information is out there for those who want to know. Most of it can be found in one place: on Dr. Daves website."

"Most" is not "everything".

To Dr. Dave's credit...he does explain things in a very clear and concise way. I've yet to look over anything, but his approach to throw is somewhat correct. It's funny how you scientist do things.

The science of it can be a way to understand things, as obvious by Dr. Daves' microscopic lenses and high tech stuff, but I doubt it is all, or even most of pool. A lot of pool can be learned and played starting from the other point. IMO

You've only scratched the surface of what's contained on Dave's site. Check out his Video Encyclopedia of Pool Shots - undoubtedly the most comprehensive (and most reliably accurate) "intermediate how-to" on pool anywhere. There are lots of sample video clips on his site from that 5-DVD set.

Other great sources are Bob Jewett's "SFBilliards.com" (+ his and Dave's Billiards Digest articles) and Mike Page's YouTube instructional videos (search for "Fargo"). All three of these guys post here regularly. Dave responds to posts here on a daily basis with links to his stuff that apply to the specific topic being discussed.

There's more info available from these three alone than you'll ever digest, 100% of it absolutely reliable.

You overcut the bank and hold it up with English so it comes in at a flatter trajectory?
That's my guess too (Edit: Oh, I see John says so in another post). Seems to me that it maximizes the amount of estimated adjustments needed for ball and cloth friction, squirt, etc. - but I'm not about to question John Brumback's skill with it.

I like to discuss shots and moves with people, it's almost as much fun as playing to me.
Funny thing is, I will show anyone who wants to watch , yet there is always a couple of people *****..g about me showing stuff to people. They are welcome to come and learn too, but they usually don't . Then if some guy they have been pounding on happens to beat them, it's because I woke their sucker up.
What a bunch of maroons.{Bugs Bunny}

Yes and no,It's hard to explain but If hit with the right method you don't need to over cut It much,If any. With my method you can hit a bigger spot on the rail and make the bank.Alot of people are worried about where exactly on the rail to hit but that's not all that Important with the right method and stroke. With most of my banks I can hit them within a 1 or 2in area on the rail and still make the bank. Most players know where to hit the rail, they just don't know the right way to hit the rail,If that makes since.Hope that helps.John B.
