shipping the jelly to az

Cows eat grass, cereal grains, hay etc. As far as I know, cows are vegetarians.

Therefore, I am a vegetarian.

But sometimes cows can go bad and then you have to worry about Killer Vampire Cows.

I could easily eat vegetables every day of my life, rice, bean dishes etc. Specially if its in the form of Chinese food. But sometimes in the summer, that big juicy rib or T bone is just calling my name. We'll all be singing a different tune when our colons start falling out but until then.

I don't think its as much the red meat that hurts us as all the chemical supplements and growth hormones they feed our live stock.

Your whistling past the grave yard, literally.
You are right though about the quality of our food supply.

Having been a vegetarian for more the 40 years I will have to pass. If you held a gun on me I would not eat one of those.

You might want to take a look at this.

My wife takes care of stroke victims. Without exception they all cry and wish they could have their lives back to live differently. It is a sad thing to see and what it does to their families. So preventable. What are you going to say, humans are the only creatures who do things that are not in their own best interest, on purpose.
My lifestyle is not because I have some feeling of moral superiority or I am some animal lover, it is because I am selfish, I prefer good health.

Outback figures Canadians can go suck an egg I guess. No ability to put in a postal code at all. I will remember that slight the next time I am looking for a steak and have the choice of Outback or the Keg.

I like eggs....and steaks....Hell I like most Canadians also.:D

Vegetarians like you give vegetarians a bad name. You do realize that right?

And that right there is sick. Your wife has a job where she deals with sick people and you are going to use their pain to push your own personal soap box agenda? Guess what, heart disease is not only caused by diet, it is also hugely dependent on genetics and even vegetarians who jog 5 miles a day and live very healthy lives sometimes end up having strokes or heart attacks. Stokes are not always preventable.

You have zero right to go posting crap like that about people that your wife works with, it is THEIR business and their families business and it is NOT your place to go posting that crap anywhere. You have zero respect and zero class.

Have some red rep, go ahead and fire back some to me as I know you will. I will take one for the team because it makes me sick to see you in green after that post.

Why would I care what you think, you don't know anything. All new research would suggest differently, strokes are almost 100% preventable as is most all heart disease other then congenital. And even with congenital coronary disease if discovered early through ultrasounds and scans can be controlled through life style changes and people who would have died early can live long healthy lives.

You don't always have to play the cards you are dealt with intervention you can improve your hand and who would not want to do that. Even more good news, with people who are already at high risk through bad life choices smoking etc. it is not too late with proper diagnoses; it can even be reversed to a degree with lifestyle changes. I am afraid you are half century behind in you thinking.

Oh, I should add, it is safe for you to take that long boat trip you have been worrying about; you won't sail off the end of the world.

There is nothing wrong with eating meat, the problem is when it is the center of the diet. This was not really where I wanted to go with my original comment, but the conversation gets a little strange when on this subject. It would be like a few women sitting around talking and one claiming she has never had a mammogram and will never have one, if she has breast cancer she will just live with it.

Why would anyone in their right minds say such a thing; yet a conversation about life style and eating choices can quickly becomes as ridiculous. The main reason would not be people being so uninformed, in this day and age we know they are not; but more so they are frightened and their first response will be denial or even hostility.

Most cities now have community programs where for a small amount of money you can get an ultrasound of the carotid arteries and a heart scan along with other tests. These are tests your insurance company will not usually pay for so you self pay for them yourself.

This is a true story from just three months ago. I was having this same conversation with a friend. He was at my house and I have a gym in the house. He put on some gloves and was hitting the heavy bag. In like 20 seconds he was completely winded. I asked him if he ever had ever a stress test and he said he had not been to a doctor in years, he told me he never gets sick. Mind you he is not over weight but he is a single guy and eats pretty much every meal at a fast food places. He is just not an over eater which accounts for his weight.

About a month later I get a call from him and he is almost shaking. He tells me he is really in trouble. My first thought was he was in jail or something but it turns out he was at a shopping center and there was a bus there giving health tests. He spent $149.00 for a series of tests including an ultrasound of the carotid arteries as well as a heart scan.

This guy who is normal weight and claims he is never sick had heart blockages of 70% and his carotid arteries were 80% blocked on one side and 95% blocked on the other. He would have within a period of time had a stroke, heart attack or both. He is now under the care of a cardiologist and although he may have to have surgery at some point to clean out the one artery he is on his way to living a normal lifespan hopefully not in a wheelchair drooling on himself. 1. He had detection and 2. he is making life choices and changes along with medication that will extend his life.

I would hope people will look around in their areas for programs like I mentioned, hospitals often offer them as well. It is crazy, with all you hear about is mammograms to save lives, these few simple noninvasive tests that are easily affordable by anyone could save hundreds of thousands of lives.

They do autopsies on young people everyday who died from various reasons and it is almost without exception they find the beginnings of cardiovascular disease even in teenagers. It is all due to are modern lifestyle and diets, nothing else.

To make this pool related, playing pool for a few hours a day bending and stretching over a table is pretty good exercise. Play more pool, eat a little better and live a long healthy life. Of course if you step in front of a bus all bets are off.

Sooo...I shouldn't grill the ribs i planned to tonight? I think I am going to be very brave and suffer through it while the meat falls off the bone and into my mouth.

Everyone chooses to either eat meat or don't eat meat. Whatever consequences happen due to either side is their choice. I'm not sure why there is so much arguing about it?

They do health screenings every year at my work. Not the ultrasound though. I'd be interested in seeing what I looked like.

I have severe hunger pains if I don't eat meat (fish, chicken, beef). I burn through grains and veggies extremely fast. I'd have to eat that stuff all day. I don't eat pork though, lol. Not because they aren't tasty. I just have a phobia of pigs. The dirty little things creap me out. I'd only eat them if we ran out of cows.
