How many have you strung together?

Well, if you ever find yourself stateside, you have action on the snooker table with me, anytime you want it. And although I usually use open/closed interchangeably, I promise ("cross my heart") that I will use closed exclusively in my match with you. A snooker player of your stature should be able to run over me with my girlie closed bridge. :o ;)

-Sean <-- h.b. 139, much of it with closed bridge

Make it pool and you're on.

-TheThaiger <-- who is quite happy with a h.b. of 80, achieved on first visit to a snooker table in 20 years, and doesn't really like to play snooker, as he can't see very far nowadays, a bit like Neil, apparently.

No no no, that defeats the purpose, Thaiger. Quit welching -- you're the one who brought up snooker! ;)

Did I? Thought it was you that linked the thread called Billiards bridge vs Snooker bridge?, where it was perfectly justifiable to state how real men cue. :p

Yes, I did link to that thread, to show some of the jaw-dropping posts in there. And my challenge was perfectly in line with it, too -- snooker -- where, in your words, "real men cue." Step up to the "real" game if you care to. You might have to use that "sick bucket" you mentioned in another thread to stand on. :p :D

Coincidence?

Oh no! Not this topic again...

I'd like to rename this thread to "The fish was thiiiiis big"

9 ball- 99 racks

8 ball- 99 racks

14.1- 525 balls (I stopped so I didnt upset Mosconi)

Eric >ask me about my 3 cushion high run

Coincidence? I don't think so. We need to match up!

I see I have to bring my game up a LONG ways before I can step to the table with you guys! For some reason, all my high runs have come in gambling matches, and since I don't have any other 'A' players to tangle with on St. Thomas anymore I haven't had the chance to really get in the box and fire back under pressure for nearly ten years now. Anyway, here are the rather pitiable numbers, with the caveat that I think my game is somewhat better than they indicate (but who DOESN'T think so? :) )

9-ball: 6 pack
8-ball: 4 pack and a LOT of 3-packs lately (my 8-ball break has always sucked, but I'm working on it)
Straights: 91 balls (I'm shooting for that post-45 yr. old first 100--picked up some break shot info from the forum that really makes things easier, now to keep my concentration while practicing!)

is there a pool room in St Thomas? or do you play on your home table? or barbox at a local watering hole?

We have two places where one can play on equipment that surpasses a watering hole. A 'gambling hole' with a Diamond Pro and a bar with three 8-footers. The 9-ball and straight pool runs were on a Diamond.

No, I was emphasising your point that getting a shot on your lowest ball following the break enough times for a large run is highly suspect. I'm no great breaker but to get a ball off the break and then a shot at the one and then have balls reasonably open is rare. For that to happen 8/9/10 on the trot seems unlikely to all but the very best.

Yeah but i've personally been hit with enough 3's and 4's to figure bigger packages aren't so unbelievable

8 rack of 9ball on a 7' diamond not including a 9ball break.

4 racks of 8 ball on a 7' valley a few times.

less than 30 of 14-1. just don't play it.

Usually when I get in the zone I don't realize how many I string together intil someone tells me

All on 9 foot tables:

8-ball: 4 racks gambling with a $70 Hampton cue that I never played with before.
Last month missed an 8-ball 2 times and it would have been 4 in a row again in a friendly competition. %^&$#

9-balll: 3 racks in tournament

8-ball & 9-ball combined: 3 and 3 (1st part of the rack is run like 8-ball second part of rack is rotation)

Longest streak in rotation 1-15 & 1-15 back to back, complete luck.

Longest one handed run 1 table

Longest streak without hitting a rail 24 balls not real game.

Half the time I suck anyway.
