I can't agree with you. Helping others will help pool in general. Also, no matter what secrets you have, pool requires some talent and a whole lot of dedicated work to get to any kind of decent playing level, and even more so to get to a top notch level. So much so that most will never even come close, even with all the secrets in their hands.

Gosh, I just bought a bunch of books from Robert Byrne way back when. And to think I could have spent more to get less.

Also I don't know if it's just me but I find it really hard to go to the table with books and DVDs.
I think that people underestimate the awkwardness of taking "information" to the table that is in fixed mediums like books and videos and working on it at the same time you are consuming it.
I find this to be a huge drawback to DVDs like ProOne. I had to take my laptop to the table, set it up in a way that I could see and hear the instruction without knocking it off the table or hitting it with a ball.
Contrast that to getting one-on-one personal instruction - discussion, example, attempt, instant feedback, correction, and reward.
Not much comparison if you ask me. So much is lost in translation on video that learning can actually become HARDER than it should be. And it's very true that very very very few will truly take the time to really digest and learn the material inside out.
I don't. I am a lazy guy and I also have a bad back so it's hard to do repetitive stuff on the pool table for any length of time. I think people have information overload and so they try to view or read things and pick out the nuggets and then work on those lightly.

You are not alone on this, look at Philippine players like Efren, he would make so much money if he writes a book, or do a DVD to the public, but he is like you and many others feel that "if i share my secrets i will loose to those same guys I taught", this might be true for 8 ball, 9, and 10 ball game, but when it comes to one pocket and banks i feel experience matters even if all players have same knowledge/secrets.
Another point i want to make, not 100% sure if i am right or wrong, but leaning to the right side more, is if we make pool secrets readily available to all for free, then more players will join, and create tremendous interest in pool, the whole industry might flourish, then ESPN and all channels will be begging for rights. Ok one will say well it is out there for free, the answer is flat out no, i have been looking for that magic thing that makes me shoot with no errors, or know why i miss for years, what is out there is advance knowledge like pivot and others a regular player would not be able to apply to all shots on the table without external help (secrets) or years of practice which will only teach him / her how to make many kinds of shots without knowing the real deal behind it.
For 37 years i was thinking i know it all, but unfortunately, i just now discovered that what i knew 37 years was not enough it got me to A level and stopped; Finally i was able to tie all together and know that there was a secret no one is sharing online for free yet.

If this were true, how did they learn? Or rather how did the 1st person learn? Here's a clue, it is possible for someone to learn something all on their own.
Ok, I don't agree with the OP about info. I think making knowledge more assessable raises everyone's game. But the things you said here just leads people to believe that only a select few that know how to play the game and their knowledge (secrets) was bestowed upon them by the pool Gods.
I mean seriously, only 4-5 players that are top speed? You gotta be kidding me. So which of the numerous pro's didn't make the list?
I find the secret, but it ain't for free. Before i find it, i'd go to the pool hall and every day i'd play different one day supper, one day bad. Now constantly i am making 99% balls in any way or shape, speed you could think of, better yet i know why i miss (if i missed) which is essential. I am done with pocketing balls lessons which automatically improved my speed and position play, but still have to work on angle position play a little more. BasementDweller, it sounds you really love the game and want to improve, are you in Virginia/Maryland area? PM me you phone.
Sorry Jay, i have good stroke for last 37 years it did not do me no good, i changed it so many times but there was no constancy in making balls. Finally i discovered the secrets. Good stroke is important, but there are a lot more to be learned beside stroke.

#1- You can't beat personal lessons. You get immediate feedback on what to do and what not to do.
#2- Don't underestimate AZB. There is a TON of info hidden in all the threads on here.
#3- Don't overestimate AZB. First off, there are probably only a few hundred that will even read a given post, and that is only if it is getting a lot of attention. Most of the numbers of viewing counts are the same people checking back to see what else was written in the thread. Also, of those that do read an informative post, it will go right over the head of most of the people that read it. And, of those that do get it, only a small percentage of them will even bother to put that info to use.
You would be shocked at the number of people that actually pay for info, and still don't bother to use it.

Naji, you aren't that Indian fellow inram or some other such name, who spoke about the secrets of pool in parables, is it? I thought he was a reincarnation of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, for a while. Now, you've got me wondering. "Tis better to give than to receive."
I really do not know who you are, but assuming from your many posts you are senior and possibly A or pro player. But to give the benefit of the doubt a chance, i will take you seriously. I am putting the curriculum together, and preparing the hands out, and small dvd insert to make it official lesson so i can make some $$ from it. When i found that special knowledge/secret it put a huge smile on my face, and guarantee you it will do the same to many. I should be advertising in local VA pool rooms in six months or before.
