I have to say I recently have been going through a major slump, 6 weeks or so now. Seemed like after learning and using CTE for just a few months my ball pocketing had improved 25% and my overall game improved as well because of that. Then I started trying to automate some of my english adjustments, and that further helped with accuracy etc.
Then I kept stretching it, never happy, and I think I worked myself into a corner. Switched shafts, not just once but back and forth a few times, which of course messed up my feel and english adjustments. Tweaked my preshot routine, which messed up my feel and confidence as well. Even through this period, I had some lights out moments, but nothing sustainable.
Recently I've been slowing down my process somewhat, just taking an extra second or so to sight the ball/aim/pivot and pausing first at the cueball before starting any warmup strokes, and in doing so I realized I had gotten a little sloppy with my sighting and pivoting. And basically my overall confidence suffered because of these random misses that were occuring along with frustration setting in.
Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else experiences this. I screwed myself up more than anything else, but since I took to CTE pretty quickly I think I kept experimenting thinking I could make it even better, had I just stopped once I "got it" and stuck to it I would have saved myself a few months of misery...
Can't say enough about the CTE/Pro1 approach, and even some of the 90/90 concept I've used (like Spiderwebcomm). Stan was a great help in explaining concepts over and above the DVD, as were several forum members. It may not be for everyone, but for me when done properly the confidence you get when looking at even tough shots, being able to treat a tough or long or thin shot like any other, is just amazing. Also having a definite starting place of a pure center pocket hit from which to adjust for english was better than my old method of just integrating everything together by feel alone.
