Pawnshop Lottery Find

Last month, I found a combo deal, an early 4 point "BLACK BOAR", "1985 JOSS", Fury J/B cue and a 3X6 case, all for $100, tax included, and have the reciept and pics to prove it!

Not a pawn shop but junktique store on the front range,$17.00 after some haggling. This cue and deal still make me grin:D.<> Jim grinning.

Nice! recently found an old Schemelke butterfly point cue in a pawn.. beat up, but not un-fixable.. not sure what it would be worth so haven't made any offers on it yet.

Hows the price? Often pawn shops are very flexible on their merchandise and they should be since most of what they are selling is just south of what they would charge to buy the same item new:scratchhead:

Here are a few more that I have found in the last ten years or so. Getting good deals or even just finding vintage cues is not easy in fact I have walked out of hundreds of stores with nothing.

Near as I can remember this bunch cost me about $360.

Left to right
H Betti = $9
BBC Challenger = free.
BBC Tru Balance = $15.00, and they threw in the Challenger.
Schmelke/Brunswick sneaky pete = $9, Someone used it to stir blue paint and I restored it.
Rosewood one piece Titlist $4, not in great shape but maybe a conversion.
BBC Titlist Professional (very early model)= $217, super straight two shafts.
Palmer= $90, present from a friend.
BBC Tru Balance - Snooker $17, 60 inch's long and straight ShootingArts to receive this when I croak.;)
Old McDermott =$10, with case and very straight needs a wrap and a lot of TLC.

Do Flea Markets Count?

Two JOSS, from Pawn, one J330, $65 and one M-004 $95 (but it came with a Dufferin and a case)
One Adam J/R-10, Pawn $70
One Sampaio, Flea Market $15 with a brand new J&J tube case
One Rich (Abe?, Florida?, Q?), 2nd hand shop $2

The Rich cue is unusual (I think) in that it is a 60 inch cue. All are in really nice shape, The JOSS were like new when found. There was paint spattered on the Rich, I cleaned it up no problem.

Best I ever did was a couple Meucci cues. One was a no pointer, the other was a FR-1. I think I paid 60 for both of them in Junction City, Ks. I miss that pawn shop!

More finds from the last couple of weeks.

Some more of my finds, Working on a Joss, Viking, and a Helmstetter VIP. I have been working to get these cues since November of last year. The Centennials was just a fluke. No marks what so ever on the balls. Charlie D

I never found any real nice cues, but during about a 1 yr stretch in the early 90's I bought and resold 25 plain jane Meucci's,most of which were Originals that came thru the store right next to The Rack in Memphis.

The best deal I ever got from there was a 8" diameter bundle of assorted Meucci shafts that only cost me 100 bucks .

There were 6 unplayed shafts in this bundle,2 of which had the collars for the DH-3 or Star of David cue, which I sold the next day for 150 EACH.

The other 4 were sold for a bill each. The 14 old/used shafts sold for between 50-100,and never even had to clean them up. With the skills I have now,I could have easily sold them and made even more pure profit.

Even though some had been someone's hard-used daily player, none of them were warped bad enough for someone to roll it on a table and call it bunk out loud.

This period in my life bought me a bunch of nice stereo equipment and a huge music collection back in the day .

The last decent cue I saw in a pawn shop was a Predator SP with green veneers that they had tagged at 229.00 USED :boring2:. Tommy D.

OK...you got my attention....

Viking? Love it....old one?

JOSS....I really ding JOSS.....

Helmstetter VIP!!!!???? Dude....great find! Get those deals closed!

.

Doc, Viking mod. vm28 with 2 shafts.
Joss , assuming its the Joss cc-06 same as the cue in the thread at top of page. no shaft.
Helmstetter VIP S-10, not in the best shape,
Also a Mc Dermott M-8 PS11, Mc Dermott logo with Jeanette Lee signature other side of butt.
Find out his price tomorrow...Charlie D

Bought my predator with a 314-2 and a z shaft, also picked up a mint bk2 (no wrap). 400$ out the door

Not a bad day, I still use them both.
