Pawn Shop Cues

Another Pawn SHop find......Predator, with 314 with the black cat logo for $57.50 out the door. Couple of small dings on the butt, shaft blueing. Cue is straight as an arrow ....I am gonna clean and polish the shaft up and make it look almost like new

I love this thread! And I kid you not!

*Pawnshops here in Manila don't take in cues. :(

.

I hate you guys. :D

The pawn shops around here never have any cues. Guns and guitars, and some junk. Never any cues.

I'll keep checking though... ;)

No not necessarily. I have bought alot of cues for very little, from thier owners. My friend $takehor$e and I have cash and when people want to get rid of a cue we buy them.

I insure my cues, and if they get stolen or damaged, Im covered.

Guns, Corvettes, cues, coins are items that I collect. People die, get divorced, inherit, etc. Things come up for sale or pawned all the time.

Its called life. ;)

I love going to estate auctions. I make a killing at almost all of them. It's always the small things too, if you know what you're looking at that's for sale you'll know the good stuff from the junk. I recently bought a whole box of crystal trinket boxes for $2.00 and flipped all 11 for $50 each +-.

I hear ya...it may not be something amazing but when i was a kid i used to follow my mother around to auctions and flea markets....

at one auction they had a whole table of stuff, nothing but junk but there was a box of cedar #2 pencils that had almost 2k of them in it.....she got the table of stuff for $5 and we threw it all away and kept those pencils....

that was when i was like 8 or something....now I'm 25 and I still haven't purchased a pencil from the store...

everytime i go over she gives me a new bag of them lol....

like i said it wasn't much but we got a lifetime supply of #2 pencils for $5 and I'd say thats pretty strong :)

Haha that's awesome! It's always nice to be the guy who always has a pencil on test day in school. Fun story.

The players in my city don't use higher end cues, with the exception of a few Schons and Predators. The guys who use them aren't the kind of people to pawn. I did find a new Cue Tec (Earl autograph model) and a Scorpion
in a 2x2 case for $104 tax in. I used both cues for quite some time and made a small profit when I sold them. That was before I found the wonderful world of Wanted/For Sale on AZ, and then made some nice deals
here.

When I have the time, I still cruise the pawn shops looking for my big score.
I haven't even found anything that I would consider fixing up for resale, but every dog has its day and mine is coming.

I found a mint Mcdermott HD3 cue at a local pawn shop. They thought it was some kind of promotional junk. Bought it for 130.00 sold it for 1100.00 2 weeks later. I always hope to do that good again!

I'm a big fan of the TV show "Pawn Stars" but I DVR everything so I can zip through the commercials. Tonight I was watching last night's shows and for the first time I saw one of the counter people looking at a cue stick. From the size and gaudiness of the inlays, I think it was a Mike Sigel cue but unfortunately they didn't feature it or even discuss it in any way. Just a few seconds of the guy looking at the inlays through a jewelers loop. I have always hoped that a high end cue would come in and be featured, just to see how they would deal with it, but alas, it was just a teaser! Oh well, maybe someday!

I saw that Sherm. I have been hoping one would turn up on Antiques Roadshow. I always wonder who the expert appraiser would be and if they get it right.

this pointed joint pin, vintage 1970-1975 adam

this definitely looks like the pin design of a japan built adam cue from the early to mid 1970's. hope this helps

pawn starts cue.....

i saw it also....i think that it was a PFD cue....could be wrong though...

PeeWee's pawn in B'ham, Al, sold a Balabushka for 10g's to a local......so I heard

I saw that too. I think it was just a quick shot of a customer as they came back from commercial. It would be kind of neat if they featured a cue. Like a customer comes in and Rick says "I know some of these can be worth a lot but I really don't know much about cues. But I do have a friend here in town who knows a lot about them, so let me call him in here and see what he thinks."

And a half hour later in walks Fatboy!!:grin-square:

No joke !!!!!

What's the best cue you ever saw/bought at a pawn store? Any custom cues?

About 2 years ago, in NC, found a 1984 Richard Black, plain BEM, $50, 95% condition. Sold over the phone for $500 in less than an hour.

This week, in SC, found a 4 point ebony, with ivory, Chris Nitti for a cool $150. 90% condition. Still got this one! Plays "lights out".

bchilton- Could you let me and everyone else who reads this thread where we might find these message boards? Is it maybe a nationwide lost or stolen type message board? Appreciate the help! Had a couple of mine stolen a couple of years ago, so I know how these people feel. Thanks. If Ya can't post the link, please pm me.

While you were likely posting that as a quip it is probably a PHENOMENAL idea for a new section on the AZB forums. If you have a unique cue stolen with identifyable markers you can post a description and pics if you have them and people could keep their eyes out for them. It would make it alot more of a heat score to steal cues in the first place and probably lead to afew less cues being stolen in the first place.
