***Fancy South West For Sale***

I had a late-comer to the party who
assured me he was a serious buyer. Whether that
was true or not, his financing fell through. So for
now, the cue is for sale once more...Anyone serious
about an awesome fancy South West?

I've seen this cue in person and it's a knockout. Bump for a sweet SW

Thank you Sir...

IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY CONTACTED
ME REGARDING THIS CUE AND WERE SERIOUSLY
CONSIDERING PURCHASING THIS CUE, YOU MAY
WANT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME AGAIN. THE
PRICE HAS BEEN DRASTICALLY REDUCED. I HAVE
THOUGHT ABOUT IT A LONG TIME, AND IF WE'VE
SPOKEN ALREADY THAN YOU KNOW THE REASON
I'VE DECIDED TO SELL THE CUE, AND THE TIME
HAS COME TO TAKE A HIT ON THE CUE IN ORDER
TO SECURE SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN
ANY CUE I WILL EVER OWN...

Terry, Duker or Duke as i knew him, was original owner. sorry TNcountryboy, you're wrong, Nat Greene may of had a simular one. i bought several SW cues from Duke, usually at Starchers, 2 annual events. he came into US OPEN & showed me cue 1st, knew it was special, because it was 1st fancy SW ever offered to me. Duke was a dear friend of the Franklin's & was told cue could be shipped, Duke said don't i'll come & p/u, he arrived in Vegas & house & shop was closed. which were built in like 2 rooms of house. he had their cell [ how many had that ] few, im sure, Duke called Laurie & she told him of Jerry's death, so Duke stayed for funeral & later returned back to Pennsylvania w/ new SW. li could be a number off but, believe 376 - 96 was last one shipped, later Joe Blackburn confirmed this & said Duke, himself & another he couldn't remember picked up # 378 #379 [ Dukes ] & # 380. any others w/ higher numbers are SW, not Franklins. Terry, you know how much i would like to have this cue back, but here i'm helping you to sell it. i wish i had cues, you wanted + cash, i would over trade, but you're looking less trade, more cash, i respect that. i'm helping you clear things up to maybe get the money you deserve. why. you treated me right, just trying to return it. your friend. don aka Sure Man Cues

Don,

This cue (379-96) is NOT the last fancy JF SW.

Duke picked up 2 cues in Vegas, this cue (379-96) and a slightly higher number much fancier JF SW cue.

I had the other one.

Remember now? US Open Hurricane?

Thanks for shedding some light on this subject Don.
I understand that, to some people the fact that this
cue is the last fancy South West to be delivered out
of the shop while Jerry was still with us is, of some
significance to some people. I get it. But to some, I
think the true meaning of what this cue is, is sadly
being twisted. The cue is awesome, and should stand
on it's own regardless. It is what it is, and that is a
truly awesome fancy South West. It's not priced out
of this world because of it being the last one. I spent
a lot of time talking to people like Don before I bought
the cue. For the people who are my friends, and know
the reason I'm selling the cue, they understand. For
those of you that don't, well...let's just say if you were
in my shoes you would sell it ten times over again to try
and accomplish what I'm trying to do. So whoever does
finally pull the trigger and purchase this cue, will have
a piece of South West history for sure, but moreover,
they will have an awesome cue, period.

True facts on the southwest

I offered Don Sureman the choice of the 2 southwest cues I had taken to the US Open. I offered to him the cue that was in my closet for many years that was to be delivered the weekend Jerry Passed, I never played with the cue. It was cocobola with ivory inlays scrimshaw southwest logo and more. Don was a good friend of mine and I let him have it cheaper then I would have let anyone else have it, I also hooked him up with a friend of mine who had quite a few of Franklin area cues, which I think he bought for 18K, and I never asked for anything, that's what friends are for. The other cue I sold at the us open was a Pau ferro forearm, with floating ivory points and many other ivory inlays and ebony inlays and some scrimshaw. I forget the gentlemans name, but his booth was right next to Dons and he really wanted the other cue bad, but I kept my word to Don and didn't start a pricing battle between them, I stuck to my word and left Don have it. Don didn't even have enough money to buy it, so I took some cues in trade so he could make the deal. I felt bad because the other guy really wanted it also, but I wasn't going back on my word. I still think I have both invoices from Southwest for both of those cues, I'm not sure where they are right now, but I have seen them recently. If I'm able to find them, I will forward them to Don Sherman and he can do what he sees fit with them. I hope I'm clearing some of these questions up about these 2 cues. ( the pau ferro cue with floating ivory points was designed by Jerry and my self and was delivered at a different time. But I can confirm the Jerry Franklin cue in question was to be delivered the weekend Jerry passed and I can guarantee that. It was a very stressfull weekend, as I stayed a couple extra days in Las Vegas and did attend Jerrys funeral. I got into Vegas early and called Laurie and told her that I won't bother her and Jerry on a friday, that I would stop over at the shop either Saturday or Monday. Well I got a call the next morning and I never did get to see Jerry that trip. Also if I remember correctly, Jerry was going to shut down his shop for the first time, to play in the BCA tournament that year.....but never got the chance. I was proud to have Jerry and Laurie as a personal friend for all of those years and still with Laurie today. Jerry was a great person and never had a problem helping someone. I was just getting into starting to build cues and Jerry offered all the help I wanted and never asked for a nickel. Also before Jerry passed, he made me 45 shafts to help me get started, how many cue builders would do that, and The price he charged me, I couldn't believe how cheap he did that for me, and I still have 43 today, the other 2 I finished for my cue. People like Jerry and Laurie come around once in a lifetime, and I am proud to have know them.

Thank you very much for clearing up any questions people may have regarding this cue, and for that matter, any of the cues built around that time frame. Thanks again, it is greatly appreciated...

Don, I'll be in touch sometime tomorrow. It's getting late and I'm actually falling
asleep at the keyboard...:)

While I do appreciate your kind words Sir,
I find it a little disturbing that you thought it
was ok to post pictures of your SW cue in my
for sale thread. That seems just a little out of
line to me. So I would appreciate it if you would
kindly remove the pictures of the SW cue you
have for sale from my thread. Thank you, and
have a very Merry Christmas!!!
