i knew i had been shooting good lately and i will tell you what i attribute a lot of it to at the end of the post. i looked up my stats so far this season and i aint doing too bad.

curious as to how you guys are playing.

apa tues nite 8 ball 5-1 for 80% win percentage

apa fri nite 8 ball 6-2 for 75 % win percentage

apa sun nite 8 ball 7-5 for 54 % win percentage

apa sun nite 9 ball 9-4 for 69 % win percentage

napa sat 6-6 for 50 % win percentage

tue money league 11-5 for 73 % win percentage

i get a scoresheet every week in my money keague showing my match results for every week to date. it shows i have wan the last 5 matches in a row. i dont get the results like that from my other leagues but i am sure the results are close to the same.

i attribute my success lately to changing my tip.

i bought my 1st custom around 5 months ago and played like crap with it. as much as i paid for it i was determined to keep playing with it and to get better with it.

last month after league was over i was wiping my cue down and the tip fell off. the cue repairman was gone and the owner was still there so he agreed to put a tip on for me. well the cue repair man had all the tips locked up but the owner found a box of triangles laying out and put 1 on.

the next night when i went to play i miscued 3 times in my 1 game and lost. i put that cue in the case and played the rest of my match with my breaker.

the next day i went back to the pool hall and had the cue repair man put on a moori med. which i have never tried before. my game has picked up since then and i have not mis cued once.

i dont know what tip my custom came with but the moori med made all the difference in the world as to how it plays now and how much better i shoot.

let me know how you are shooting and if you think nothing but a tip change affects how well you shoot.

Good grief man! How many nights a week do you shoot?!! Hahalol! I'm 2-5 Monday night APA 9'ball. Yick! Im 6-1 for Thursday night APA 8 ball. :) I dont know what it is but I can never seem tomb doing good at both at the same time . I dunno.

As far as your tip question: I couldn't tell you because I'm still on my first tip that came with the stick 2 years ago. Kinda makes me wanna change now :) Good luck to you this session.

I'm in dead last in my 9-ball league, yay me! 1-6 or some such... Kind of snake-bitten. I'm a SL4 in 9-ball. My last match I played the only SL8 in our league, and lost by 1 ball. (The details of how I lost that match aggravate me so much that I'll stop right there. All on me, mind you, not a *****-fest.) The match before that, I lost to a SL7 by 2 balls. So I'm right in there, against the best players in the league, but not closing the deal.

I'm at 44% in 8-ball. (I'm SL5 in that one.) The thing I've noticed about becoming a SL5 last year is that I'm constantly playing SL5's and above most of the time, with the occasional SL4. There is no question it's more of a challenge, especially for someone who is still really a beginner at pool. (Pnly been paying for just over 2 years now.) I'm not complaining, mind you. The only way I'm gonna get better is by playing the better players, and learning how to close out games and matches.

I've only had my playing cue for a year now, and haven't changed the tip yet.

Season just ended:

APA Tues nite 8 ball 9-4 for 69% win percentage and Top Gun

1st round of Tier 1 playoffs blanked a SL5, team won.

Have dropped to playing/practicing only 1 night a week since spring. I guess I'm happy with the results....

Different cue/shaft/tip for table and conditions. Just like changing golf clubs in the bag depending on course.

Finding that perfect tip can be an ongoing quest. Seems like you like this one. Take special care of it.

You sure do play in a lot of leagues, I don't have the energy for that anymore. Getting old stinks.

I only play in two leagues now, a Monday night 8 ball money league and a Wednesday nite handicapped nineball league. On Monday I am 13 and 2 with one loss by an 8 ball on the break. In the 9 ball league I am 3 and 3. I am giving up a lot of weight in that league.

8-Ball APA - Hovering around the 50% win percentage mark with a couple weeks to go.

I'd like to move above that mark and start a long long winning streak!

Seems like the search for the perfect tip for me is a never ending story... Damn you Moori for kicking up production and losing the original moori medium's characteristics....

As far as League... I am undefeated... I will be undefeated next year as well... Open Tournaments I am 3-2 Losses to Rob Saez and Max Eberle... Need to play in more than 1 next year LOL

I've lost two games out of the 33 I have played this season. So it's been a pretty good year.

My team is in first place and I am the number 3 shooter in the league. But I have 12 or so weeks to advance to number 1.The top shooter ranking is determined by points. I think my win /loss record is 38 and 9.

Not to put any pressure on you, but as soon as the top shooter status is out of reach, you will be riding the pine.

I have been playing in league for two seasons now and am a sl4 in both 8ball and 9ball. The fall season just ended and for 8ball I am at 55% and 9ball at 78%. I play double jeopardy one night a week, and due to family and a lack of work don't really ever get to practice. This year is supposed to pick up and I'm hoping to get a new cue and get to play more.

Monday night APA 9-ball I was 6-2 (including a 20-0 against a SL6) for a 75% win ratio.

I played my very first session of APA Masters this fall. After starting the session at 0-2, I finished the rest of the session with an 8-1 record for a total record of 8-3, about a 73% win ratio.

I have Triangles on most of my playing shafts. For the most part, the list of tips I do NOT like is shorter than the list of tips that I do like. I can pretty much play (and play about the same) with most brands/types of tips out there. I just keep the Triangles on my playing shafts for consistency of feel from shaft to shaft.

I'm a 6 in our local league where an 8 is the best you can be.
I started out 5 - 0, and then hit this wall. I couldn't hit a straight
in shot! It was rediculous. Well after 3 weeks, and missing a
2 foot in sraight 8 ball by hitting the end diamond 6 inches from
the corner pocket, I was about to give up. I'm just sitting there
and it dawns on me to push on the side of my tip. Well, the tip
went one way, and the fiber pad went the other. The glue gave
at both sides of the fiber pad at the same time! I couldnt believe
it. So I grab my spare shaft, and all the sudden, those straight in
shots are hitting the center of the pocket. I don't know what
was keeping that tip on, but it had some sort of bubble under
the tip, and really messed with my head. I'm now 7 - 3, and at
least playing better.

BCA, 17-8 so far this season.. damn you, big tables.

Not on an APA team this season.. last season:

Format Session ............. SL MP. MW Win % Rank Points Rank
8-Ball Open Summer 2011 7 10.. 8... 80%... 2..... 45.... 7..
9-Ball Open Summer 2011 9 8.... 7... 88%... 2..... 53.... 3..

Hopefully will find another team for next session without having to drive all over hell and back. First year I've missed out on singles stuff.. oh well, gives me another year of practice. Should be doing pretty well by then.

My advice for any lower league players.. hit softer, understand what happens after the hit and don't shoot until you are certain of what you are going to do. Do those things and I wouldn't be surprised if you went up a level by the end of next session.

Moved up to a 7/7 this session and it has been a struggle. Got lucky to slip by a SL5 this week thanks to an 8 out of turn on the hill in a nine inning match. Eight ball has been easier to manage but the jump in nine from 46 to 55 has been torture. Three of my four losses have been in the handicap window. I rarely get more than one break and run and my safeties need a lot of work. My innings average about 1.7 in 8b and 2.1 in 9b.

I enjoy the match play though. I live in a rural county nothing but barboxes and the local tournaments are all single game or race to two in nine. :o

We are talking about switching to BCA style next session but I would rather play more games, not less.

The spectator benches in Hanks are made of pine? Funny, I thought they would be made of plastic -- to resist water damage from any knocked-over bottles of water. :p

At a $1.00 per bottle, I don't think anybody's setting them down anywhere...
