Top 10 bar table players in your state

(1) Buddy Hall
(2) Jesse Bowman
(3) Jamie Baraks
(4) Jon Kucharo
(5) Donnie Branson
(6) Bobby McGrath
(7) Jeff Sargent
(8) Ike Runnells
(9) Justin Bergman
(10) Gary Luttman

Bandy certainly worthy, but hav'nt seen him in 10 years at a tournament.
Richie or Tom likely need weight from all these guys.

The next few in the line-up play pretty damn strong as well.

Dunklin,Sergio,Judex,Josh Johnson,Larry Parks,Scott Cohen,Tom Mcklusky
and a quite a few others that are maybe only a ball below everyone mentioned.

I'm sure there's plenty of others. Any other names from Illinois jump out?
Ike Runnels
Robbie Talcheck (no idea how to spell his last name)
Bobby McGrath Jr.
Richie Idrova
Tom McCluskey

Right off the bat I want to say that all the guys listed could destroy me in any game on any table....But how I saw Luttman playing in the TarPit on a diamond pro am 7'. I think Richie and Tom could take him. IMO of course

There is one player that everyone is leaving off there lists. He used to live in IL. Now I believe he is living in TN and playing on the road. However, I believe that John Smith is probally the best 8ball bar box player in the nation. I would love to hear others opinion on him.

for iowa I would call it in no order

Jon Kucharo
Josh Johnson
Jamie Fenton
Chad Vilmont
if the sleeve was still here him
the last 5 in my opinion could be made up by about 20 people

i'd like to consider myself in the top 100. lol

and for illinois everybody seems to forget Jamey Bowman can play a little too.

Don't forget...

Whitey Walker
Scott Kitto

Minnesota

I know there has been threads about best and top 10 players in your state. But I have yet to see one just for the bar table only.It has become such a huge part of pool I thought a state by state list would be interesting to see.IMO.
Here's mine but not in any order.
1-Beau Runningen
2-Jimmy "The Kid" Wetch
3-Demi Jelatis
4-Mario Parayano
5-Lee Heuwagon
6-Jason Kubiszewski
7-Jamie Pluta
8-Tony Zierman
9-Tony Hilla
10- Derek McMasters/Tim Tonjum

There is a few that could be on any given day.

I would include my old friend Whitey Lee if I could talk him into playing again.

Scott Kiddo
Good to see someone mention Scott Kiddo.
Some of the posts mention players who are no longer with us.
Also interesting to see Buddy Hall mentioned for several states.
The posts show where most AZers live...upper midwest, DC area, etc.
There are so many monster BB players out there, it's really hard to make lists.
I could name dozens of great players I've met who aren't mentioned.
I could also put together of players who would easily make such lists but no longer play for various reasons.
But rating players is still very difficult.
Years ago, I was told by a national tournament director that he considered me one of the top 50 8-ballers in the country. I almost choked on my orange juice! I would have been tickled pink to been named one of the top 500! I was the FOURTH best player on one of my teams in the '80s! I could take a team made just of my old teammates who have passed away, and contend for any amateur title available since 1980.
How about a thread naming "My former teammate all-star team"?
Or, the players who have given me my worst beat-downs?
Or, the players I have learned the most from?

I'll probably butcher the names, but for the guys I know in Louisiana, my humble opinion is:

1. Gary Abood (when he's in Shreveport)
2. Joey Barnes (when he's in Shreveport)
3. Scotty Townsend (when he's in Louisiana)
4. Jamie Ferrell
5. Jimmy Majors
6. Nick Arcement
7. Wesley Barnes
8. Bobby Johnson
9. Chris Miller
10. Joey A

I used to live and play in Shreveport. Gary is pretty dam good. Have only heard of a few players on your list. Josh Harris is good also. Do not know if he would make top 10 in state. It has been a while since I have been down there. I am sure a few of players I used to play with down there have since past on.

I will start it:

1.) George _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
2.) Brian _ _ _ _ _
3.) Brian _ _ _ _ _
4.)
5.)
6.)
7.)

I think everyone knows that George Breedlove plays great...so you ain't knocking his action.

I'm not putting up a Colorado list. You guys will just have to come find out.

I know John Smith is a very common name, but are you referring to the same John Smith that now lives in Arizona that use to live in Illinois for a long time. Won a couple state titles back in the day?

If so, he plays on a Barbox 8-ball Team here in Phoenix along with Mitch Ellerman, The 2008 US Bar Table 8-ball Champion.

That has to be one in the same. IMO John is the best 8 ball bar box player in the country. The guy is insane. He used to live with one of my good friends in IL. Do you see John often?

Yep, I see him a few times a week. He plays in my league every Wednesday and he was in a little action on the table next to me last night. We chatted a bunch. He's full of great information.

Full of information he is. I remember watching him play when he was living with my buddy. The safties that guy would make are unbelievable. He has probally forgot more about pool, than most people know. Next time you see him let him know that Bradley, Adam and Eric said hi.

Is this a Michigan list?

adam smith
tony chohan(think he went to prison)
