Break & Run by RunOut Media is AWESOME!

This DVD set is awesome. The instruction is top notch, and hell, listening to Earl run his rack on disc three is awesomely entertaining.

Question: What do others think about the elbow drop discussion on disc one? I'm not giving an opinion either way. I just found a players perspective very interesting, considering all the talk on here about the evils of the elbow drop.

Always remember, "The world is against you."

I just wanted to quickly thank everyone for their generous feedback. The DVDs are far from perfect, but I feel they're a significant step in the right direction. Everyone who starred in this project really did a great job. Their knowledge couple with their easy going personalities really made for an enjoyable experience. Dave Mccoll who helped with the filming also really stepped it up and worked hard.

Thanks again everyone.

Nathan is being modest... I would hate to see his version of perfect. He literally took an extra 2 days rendering the videos with different codecs to make sure the video looked absolutely perfect....if a couple of pixels looked out of place it had to be fixed....not to mention the fact that the video was shot in a hallway with one side completely windows so every scene would have different lighting conditions depending on the amount of sunlight and time of day. Nathan color corrected each digitally so that you would never be able to tell the difference. They are so many more little things that maybe 1% of the people that watch it would notice but it has all been done as well. I think the end product speaks for itself.

I just ordered mine. I loved the Mastering Pool series - production-wise - here's hoping this one continues that awesome trend. :)

LOL at "The world is against you." Earl is such a character!

I have to get back to going through all of the disks soon. There is so much information that the players provided that it is impossible to soak it on one drive-through.

What I remembered about the elbow drop in disk 1 was that elbow drop is fine and that most of the pros drop their elbows. I think you should not worry about dropping your elbow. If it drops and you're making balls, DON'T CHANGE A THING. I think it may be a thing to be concerned with if you aren't consistently making the shots. It is kind of natural to drop your elbow on shots. If the elbow drop isn't adversely affecting your potting or shape, don't sweat it.

I'm getting ready to go back and mine some more gold from this set of DVDs.

Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the response, Joey. That's basically what I would have thought as well, but I know there are people here that would always vehemently disagree.

Gotta love Earl!

Alex gives up some nice kicking and banking secrets. One of his funny lines was something like, "Well, now you know how to do it. All you have to do is play 8 hours a day and don't eat." (grinning like a cat that ate the canary)

There's always room for improvement, but at the same time, there comes a point where adding in that extra 5% polish can sometimes add twice as much work. I think I found a nice balance here where the videos are still high end, yet I managed to produce them in under 10 weeks.

lol, I was tempted to hire Earl to do a full lesson in the DVDs, yet eventually decided that my stress level was already sky-high and likely wouldn't be able to handle Earl. To my surprise, he was a pleasure to work with on this, so if I do ever make a Break & Run 2, expect Earl to be one of the primary players.

Some of the best outtakes were a bit too crude to put in the DVD, but I did manage to slip a solid 15 minutes in. The funny thing about Alex is that his humor is constant, and it just fit right in with his lesson.

Having him teach kicking & banking systems was incredibly difficult, as he's learned to do it all on instinct over the years. He doesn't remember how he does things anymore, but rather just does them automatically.

Throughout the DVDs each player actually talked about what they were going to do before they did it and they would say exactly what they saw and how they would hit the ball. All of it looked very natural and automatic which is the way I like to hear the better players talk about how they play. It gives someone like me a lot of confidence that a player like Alex simply tells you exactly what he is doing and how he is doing it and then you can go out and for the most part, I can do exactly what he says he does. (Maybe not quite as consistently. :embarrassed2:) :D

Earl would be a GREAT addition to the next set of DVDs.

Your graphic overlays showing the different paths of the cue ball and the object balls were icing on the cake. Thanks for putting out one of the best sets of DVDs to date.

I got nothing from none of you all for x-mas!!!....I think someone should be getting me this as a late x-mas gift.....:)

Got a copy from my fiancee for Christmas. Just finished DVD 2 and the sections from Rodney, Mika and Darren are worth the purchase price by themselves.

The section on breaking/racking by Mika is simply top notch, first quality information - it's something that I've often thought about but never really understood and I know it'll make a difference moving forward.

Well worth the money!

"The World is against you" - Earl Strickland

lol, that's actually one of my favorite parts of the entire DVD set. Earl had three priceless quotes in it, the other two being:

1) "This game sucks!"
2) "You gotta heat the table, otherwise you're no better than a neanderthal!"

That's because it was your fiancee's money! :p

But seriously, this is the kind of thing I like to hear. I realize the DVDs are a bit expensive since it's niche content (and cost me a fortune to produce), so I'm very pleased to hear that it's justified. The way I see it, the content will likely pay for itself numerous times over, either through gambling, or simply by saving table time while practicing.

Thanks again everyone!

Wonderful customer service. I emailed on a Sunday to make sure my order didn't get lost in the holiday shuffle. I got an email back within minutes stating that it would be there on Monday. And it was!

Thanks for a great product and great customer service!

OK, so maybe it's only a prediction......

Maybe, you should create an "inner circle" dvd of the less refined takes and sell that as well. It might dwarf your otherwise great sales.

I continue to hear from others who praise this set of DVDs and hope that RunOut Media continues with even more success. You've created a benchmark by which future instructional DVDs will be judged.

I have an idea to share with you for a future project and will send via PM, email or Facebook message.

Congratulations on having the BEST SELLING DVD FOR THE DERBY CITY CLASSIC. I can imagine a big screen TV showing excerpts of the content of the Break & Run DVD series with speakers turned up loud enough to attract the passer-byers attention.

Just having Fun here.
How about this, a match with Mike Segel and Earl Strickland, both have mics on and must talk about the positon the other left and what they are going to shoot and how(shooting the CB). I am joking about the two players but I would love to hear a top player thinks and how he/she approaches the run. They might be thinking I'll play to the 4 then go safe. I would like to see and hear this and see how it turns out. There are so many Great players that would be good to hear, not just the current champions. I think they came close to this in the Mika DVD but by the time Mika was doing the voice over he forgot what he was thinking at the time. Which only proves that it is a game of feel and what you feel at the time.
One more idea. Dont let them break and set up the table just after a break with built in problems mark the balls on the table and see if each player approaches the run the same way.
Just thinking
