Steel plate joining a 3 piece slate together.

You are RIDICULOUS when it comes to what you do to get a table set up. I once saw my friend Scott Taylor fix a woman's alternator with a paper clip, gum and a twig, or really not much more than that. He attacks building things the way you attack setting up tables by refusing to see any obstacle as too much to overcome.

I honestly believe at this point that if someone's house burned down then the only thing left standing would be the table you set up and the firemen would be playing pool on it.

Solid Glen. REAL solid!!! If ever I move back to the USA and need a table installed I hope that serendipity smiles on me because I am beginning to believe I have never had the pleasure of playing on a perfectly installed table of my own.

seams odd to me lol

What's odd about it, the fact that I took a 3 piece slate and turned it into a free floating, one piece slate unattached to the frame of the table, only to be held in place by the 12 rail bolts going through the fram/slate and into the rails, clamping everything together?

It's a play on words.

But wasn't there enough room to get the one piece up?

Sometimes getting a one piece slate into a house is only half the battle, the other half comes if the owner ever decides to move and take the table as well. So, looking into the future, there was no reason to have to fight just as hard to get the table out as the same fight to get it in. Table body was taken apart as well, and reassembled upstairs.

Delivering a Diamond 7ft ProAm with a one piece slate to a guys house in Des Plaines, IL....

Boss! Boss! Des Plaines! Des Plaines!

(fantasy island joke)

Glen have you ever weight tested a joint like that? If so, to what extent ?

Yes, I've picked up the whole slate from one end, set it back down and nothing chaged at the seams.

So there was room? On the note of the future?

If you have to force the issue of trying to get a one piece slate into a location...in my book, that means theres not enough room to get the slate in. With all hardwood floors, hardwood railings, tight turns, and two flights of stairs...no, there is no way that slate was going in as a one piece:cool:

Maybe next time you should ask better questions about the install, it would have saved you time and money.

I did this same thing 10 years ago but used titanium. It is lighter and stronger.

hmmm...well maybe next time I will, but here's something to think about....I had nothing to do with the sale of this table, had no conversation with the home owner...and the table was sold through someone else to begin with. If I HAD made the sale, I'd have known what I was getting into in the first place, and planned accordingly:cool: Never-the-less....I installed the table, it turned out perfect...and alls well that ends well.

maybe you might want to keep a set of those little slates on board, anyways I agree that the job is done and all happy. Just wait until I fry you on the new reality show(top secret)

Already told Diamond, next time...I'm just going to cut the slate in half that came with the table, install it, and put it back together again:grin: Fry me??:shocked2:
