Deep Pockets in Alvin, TX closed????

I got word this morning the doors are closed at Deep Pockets. What a loss for the greater Houston area. JR was having $500 added tournaments like 4 or 5 times a week the last couple weeks. If this is true this is a HUGE LOSS!!!!

Room had 4 9 ft. Diamonds and 16 Diamond bar tables in it. Definitely was a very very nice room and the atmosphere was terrific there. I always got played whenever I went through and I think 99% of people will agree they got action there too if they were looking for some.

I'm a little speechless this morning.

Yea its closed, there was just not enough business, nice place, to far off the beat and path. I had a great time there and always got action.

Hope that JR reopens in a new location, we need guys like him to keep this game alive!

Damn right, 2 best pool room owners I knew were danny odom from king street billiards in fayetteville, nc and jr from deep pockets. Both awesome but now closed pool rooms.
 
Sad to say when a pool room owner opens a place with the intention of catering /surving off pool players..His chances of survival shrink..He did put a lot of money in circulation in the last year and treat players really well..I hope that we get to see more of him in the future..Thanks Jr..

Note to self..If u open a pool hall..Amatuer league 5 nights a week supports u..Pool players do not..

No offense man..I know the economy is hurting but Obama didnt shut this place down..Ppl still blow thousands on strippers..alcohol..clothes and cars..The man dropped some money here..He bought like 20 brand new diamonds and opened in a small town..No liquor also..Location was just not prime..I know several business of the same style going strong..Just circumstance..He is another successful man that took a gamble..U win some u lose some..My 2 cents..But everyones opinion is valued..
 
Does anyone have any contact info for the owner? I may be interested in a couple of the tables, if he is selling them...

The commie in the white house????? WTF, JR is a great guy that had a great placein a bad location, thats it, nothing more...., The economy has been heading south for 10yrs, pick up a book.

Doing a spot with no liquor is insanity.... I ran a 24 hour spot, 24 tables, with liquor. 70% of the money was beer/liquor. No liquor is insanity.
 
JR did not close it cause he does not have money. He closed it cause it did not make money. I talked to JR and he is going to decide what he wants to do with the tables and if he wants to sale them I will let you know.

Real sorry to hear about this. JR is a cool dude and I wish he would have made it work. I was there a few times just too damn far to go on a regular basis for me.

Juice / Mikey, Please let me know because I know someone who wants one of the bar tables if JR wants to sell them. Just don't want to act like an ambulance chaser during the mourning period. You know Brent who staked Tam against Parker. He wants one. Building a house and wants a Diamond Bar Box with his Gold Crown.

Jr. is a great person and a great room owner that genuinely wanted to do something for pool. He had put together a great room. One thing that had to hurt was the cities law against liquor sales. He cold sell beer but not the hard stuff where the real money is made.

No matter what a room has to drink, eat...or to play pool on, there's one thing that is most important in having sucessfull business...and that's having enough customers walking through the doors to stay in business. People don't seem to understand...the nail in the coffin that closes the doors to these kind of business....is the CUSTOMERS!!!!

Dude, pool rooms have been closing for the past 10 years all over the place. The thing really started with the smoking ban, although there are 5-10 other factors.
