Can't get the film off the Magic Ball Rack

Looks like you missed post #7 where it is stated that the black ones do not have a protective film. No wonder it was so darn stubborn.

They do or did for some models, both black ones I got had it, and I just ordered one for a friend a few weeks ago, his had a greenish tint to it.

Another good product down the drain. They are too thin now. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I have two sets of the 1st generation for a few years and they still play perfect. They owe you a new one + a free pack for your trouble, WITH PROPER INSTRUCTIONS. Johnnyt

I have one of the black ones, never took a film off, really couldn't tell if
there was one on it. Plays fine shiny side up.

Gunzby, you didn't state if it was the 9/10-ball version or the 8-ball version that you are having problems with. I recently got two sets of these racks (about 6 weeks apart), and the 9/10-ball versions had no protevtive film, but the 8-ball versions did. It is clearly a blue colored film if it is on there. The best way I found to get it off is to take a sharp knife and scrape on it until a small portion of the film begins to fray away from the rack. Then you can get a pair of tweezers and peel it completely away. The film (as per my instructions) is on the side where you can read the logo correctly.

I have gotten two sets of these racks. Both sets were identical, but with a different set of instructions. I kind of damaged the 9/10-ball rack on my first set because the instructions had me peeling off a film that was NON-EXISTANT on the rack .

IMO, they owe you (and me, and probably MANY others) a replacement rack because of their SUCKY set of instructions!!!

Ever since the MR came out people have complained about how difficult it was to get the film off the darn thing. Supposedly the film was there to protect the rack during manufacture. So my feeling was if that was the case then why didn't they take it off before they shipped it out? And I think the answer was because it was too damn difficult to remove so they just let the customer deal with it. :banghead:

I got the 9/10 ball set. I emailed them yesterday and haven't heard back from them. I'm guessing you and I got the same type of 9/10 ball rack because when I peeled back that 2-3 mms of what I thought was the film it seemed glued/baked on.

I suppose I could email Pool Dawg which is where I got it from. I don't think they should have to do anything because they didn't make it.

You would think they would add a tail to the film so you could just peel it off. Or they could glue a tail onto it to do the same thing.

Just got an email back from magic rack and they are sending me a replacement pack :)
Just wanted to give a shout out to them for that. The problem was more due to a small clerical error than the product itself. Let my stubbornness be a lesson. If it's really really hard to get off it probably wasn't meant to come off. The shiny black MRs don't have a film.

I would also like to give another shout for being a stand up guy to Joe Rackem @ Neilson Billiards. I got a Mezz Power Break Pro w/ a DI Pro shaft from him yesterday. Due to a small clerical error in the invoice I didn't get the extras that came with it. I contacted them knowing it was a mistake (you don't get 100% positive feedback selling thousands of items on eBay by screwing ppl). They apologized like crazy and rush shipped the extras.

Just thought that I should give credit where credit is due :)

You can't go wrong with Nielsons. They've got a real walk in store in Springfield, IL if you find yourself in the area stop in. Great people.

Well still haven't gotten the replacement rack that was promised to me. I emailed them again a little over a week ago where they again said they were sending out rack which I still haven't seen with my eyes.

I emailed them again today and included my information again with the message to either send it, or tell me that they aren't going to send it so I know not to do business with them again.
