Just curious to know what you guys who have used either of these cue think of them and how they come standard? The tip is a concern for me. Love Samsara but not crazy about Phenolic.....

So far the only break cue that I've been able to park the cue ball with on the break is a Jacoby Edge which is a terrific cue...

thoughts and opinions please...

I have a pechauer break cue and it breaks good not the best but not the worst. I would say the bk2 mezz power break 1 and 2 and the mezz dual force break better than the pechauer. The orange crush I have never broke with.
Hope that helps

Thanks for your input. All is welcomed! I'm not crazy about the Mezz at all. I hate the grip. I like the BK2 though, it breaks great.
Thanks for your info on the Pechauer. It sounds like an awesome cue but it's good to hear the low down from someone who has one. I won't be buying one of those. I wasn't crazy about the joint anyway.

Funny you should start this thread because I recently purchased both of these break cues and am in the process of deciding which one I like better.

I haven't really figured it out yet. I want to do some stats on 8 Ball, 9 Ball and 10 Ball breaks and see how often and how many balls I make on the break on average, just trying to crush them. Then I want to do the same thing only adding in controlling whitey and getting a shot on the one (9 & 10 Ball).

But so far I can tell you this much. Neither come with phenolic tips. The OC is a Samsara and the Pechauer a Black Diamond water buffalo tip. My understanding is both are considered legal in BCAPL play.

The biggest differences in the feel is that the Pechauer is noticeably forward balanced, with the weight in the front of the butt, not really in the shaft. The other thing is in the shaft taper. The OC is a pro taper shaft while the Pechauer is more conical taper. So if you break with a closed bridge from the bed of the table you will notice the Pechauer sort of "runs out of room" as you follow through. The shaft does get tight in your bridge as it thickens unless you open up the loop a little more. This takes some getting used to though it would probably not be impossible to make the adjustment. If you are using a standard rail bridge from the side rail the difference in tapers really won't matter.

I'll give you more info as my "research" progresses.

I'm currently using an Orange Crusher. This is my first break cue so I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't want to use my new playing cue to break so I gave it a try.

The workmanship is great on the cue and I got it with the standard phenolic tip since I don't play league. Mike recommended and 18.5 oz weight since I play with a 19 oz .

I have 2 artificial shoulders so I was concerned about the impact when breaking. I must say that it feels great. I spent one weekend just breaking to find the sweet spot on my table (just got the table). I probably broke upwards of 200 racks that weekend. The cue performed well, it was just me that didn't have the consistency.

Hope this helps,

Randy

Wow, thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your results. My main concern is being able to park the cue ball on the break when hitting with more than medium power. I am anxious to hear about which one gives more control over the cue ball for sure. Thanks, good luck, and let me know what you find!

Well Randy, that's probably mostly my problem, consistency! LOL! I'm glad to hear that you're liking that Orange Crusher. A friend of mine thought it would be worthwhile to check out. I understand that Mike makes high quality cues. I saw a Sledgehammer on Ebay for a very reasonable price but just not that familiar with these cues. Thanks for your input here! How easy is it to control the cue ball on the break?

I have and really like the Pechauer. The biggest thing for me with a break cue is the tip. I cannot stand phenolic tips. I like the black diamond tip on the Pechauer. The weighting took a just a little bit of time to get used to, but not much. Never really had an issue with the taper and I break with a closed bridge. All I know is that I get a nice spread and good control in both 8 ball and 9 ball.

That said, for me at least, the real thing is the tip and that can be changed on any cue.

I'd like to hit with a Pechauer. I'm curious to know what the forward weighted cue feels like in hand.... I'm glad you like that Lucasi jump cue, it's a nice one for sure!

It is a nice cue, looks good, works great. If you're going up to the SBE, I'll be there on Friday and you can bang with Pechauer to your heart's delight. Or if you happen to float up to Winchester ever, let me know

i have both the bk2 and OC from MG. i used to play in different leagues and wasnt allowed to use a phenolic tip. i bought the OC and have kept it since. i have broke and ran multiple racks with the break cue itself. love the samasara tip for that. the bk 2 again was nice but was forced away from it.

I tried the Orange Crush last week and it hit great. If they all hit similar you can't go wrong with that cue. I've never tried the other cues mentioned and can't give an opinion.

Thanks!

I will do so! I appreciate it. If I ever get out your way or you're ever in Roanoke we'll shoot some for sure!

Good info, thanks. I keep hearing good things about it.
