i am in the process of building a ferrule out of grass, a variety stronger than oak, but much lighter than most ferrule materials. i do not know if its ever been tried, but i have way too much free time, so i'm giving it a try. i'll post photos when i get it finished. chuck ' bored ' starkey

I for one, love the idea:thumbup: After a bad beat, one could hack it off, and get stoned to bejesus:thumbup:
 
I'll send you all my grass clippings this summer.
Maybe you could also try some Hemp ferrules. They seem to be able to make just about everything out of hemp these days.
No one will ever accuse you of not being enviro friendly.

I am talking about bamboo, never seen one, but I am doing a solid and a laminated one, any suggestions are welcome
 
Already invented
They called it HBM-hemp based melamine
The first run was to hit the market in 1969, but they all got smoked by a tribe of hippie cuemakers...:smile:
