Are you a dealer?
By the the definition stated... if you sold more than 5 items last year on the forum you are a dealer... yes, I'm a dealer.
Are you a dealer?
Because no one knows who is a dealer and who isn't.
Its the people who have continous ads on here on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Just took this in trade (sounds like a car lot), just got a new batch in ( from cuemaker xyz), listing 30 cases at a time and still buying em up here on az to have more to sell later, looking for a 24 count dealer case, you can see certain names over and over.
I think the mods are saying this site was started for the enjoyment and occasionall sale of a cue from a private seller or collector. Personally I enjoy having the wider selection of all sellers to select from but this isnt my site and I cant make the rules for other people.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then in all probability it is most likely a duck.
Are these considered dealers:

Just a few from yesterday and today. I'm asking because the rules seem unclear, or at least to whom they apply...

I'm far from a dealer. I have a full time job. I don't pay my bills by trading cues. I never intended to get caught up in this buy/sell/trade addiction.
I like having the option to buy sell and trade here so I can hit with all different types of cues. I went through my predator phase, now I'm done. I'm looking into Lambros and Bluegrass. I've done Dayton, Olney, Josey, so on and so on.
I don't believe I abuse the system and I've even tried to consolidate my wanted to buy and sale/trade threads so I dont have 15 posts I'm bumping and hogging the front page.
I'll bump my 2 threads once per day per the rules.
Nobody is picking on you! Mr Wilson said, "Are we pushing for a number of sales?
Ok, if you sold more than 5 items here last year." I'm just trying to get clarity...is this the NEW benchmark?
By the the definition stated... if you sold more than 5 items last year on the forum you are a dealer... yes, I'm a dealer.
by this definition there are a LOT of dealers. luckily for me nothing i sell or trade is new...
This all seems silly to me ...why not just call a spade a spade and ban the few causing problems in the wanted for sale section instead of punishing the good dealers on here. I personally like seeing their offerings on nice cues and equipment etc I'd much rather browse legitimate dealers adds than watch a bunch of used production cues be listed day in and day out and for the record saying that if you ve sold 5 things on here your a dealer is insane IMO
I don't know guys,,,,,this is just a mess, and I really don't see what the big argument is all about. AZB is a great website,,,,,that's why all of us come here everyday, but it's obvious there are certain things they do not want to be bothered with,,,,,,,ala this topic,,,,,,so why fight it. There are alternatives,,,,I have a site up, Lee has a site up, John has a sight up,,,,it's just another click to get there. All the sites have a general focus or purpose, just find one of em you like and then when you have looked over and commented on all the posts you have interest in here, just click over to one, or any/all of the others and sell/ buy/ trade, or whatever. I mean, there are always alternatives, and usually some with alot less headaches.
Great perspective - Good post Brian, make a lot of sense.First, I think no one should lose track of the fact that the owners of AZ have asked for a policy change in order to minimize their legal exposure.
Understanding that, I do not think it's appropriate to keep debating how unfair their decision is. It's their forum, it's their prerogative, right?
With that said, however, I see that there has been some grey areas left open to interpretation and when pressed, Mr. Wilson has in most cases remained vague. Maybe he's being vague on purpose and also when being pressed hard for an answer he has suggested that the person wanted to know ask Jerry.
I could be very wrong but my take is that if you think you fall into the grey areas, but you are a good citizen/contributor, why not post up your for sale thread, only bump it once a day at the most, and see if you're left alone.
According to Mr. Wilson, if it is determined that you are not operating within the rules, he'll be letting you know. It's not an instant ban, he said you get 3 warnings so what do you have to lose?
Meanwhile, everyone who keeps pressing on and on for rules clarifications should be careful for you may get them, and they may not be what you were hoping for.
My sincere suggestion would be to be good az'ers, do not abuse the forum, and if you think you would likely be considered a dealer, just don't post brand new cues for sale here unless it's providing an ebay link.
Operating with some grey areas may actually benefit the overhelming majority of good guys (dealers and non-dealers) who post here.
Just a thought.
Best,
Brian kc
Fand if you think you would likely be considered a dealer, just don't post brand new cues for sale here unless it's via an ebay link.
