Hey everyone. It has been a while since I have been on here. It sucks that this is the reason that brings me back.

Here is an interesing situation I am in-

Last night I was riding my motorcycle back after a league match. I had my cue case on the back. I got to a different bar and realized in shock that my cues had fallen off the back of the bike!! I immediately turned around and retraced my route to find them with no luck.

Now here is where it gets interesting.....

I have a tag on my cue case that says "Reward if Found call ..." So a while later I get a call! I am so thrilled that they found my cues. They of course ask about the reward. I say I absolutley will come and take care of them, just let me know when and where I can meet them. It is now 1 am and they say there are about 40 miles away, so they will call after work at around four or five. I am very dissapointed to wait, but am so happy that I even got the call. So today, no call and no answer after repeated calls and messages from me.

Now what? I have his cell number and he said his name is Joe. When I call, the voice on the message is the guy I talked to. I did a reverse look up on the number. Says it is a cell phone in West Palm Beach with a different name. I am thinking I need a name and an address and me and at least 20 of my biker friends will pay a visit and give him his "reward".

Really, all I want is the cues back, but I want to move quick before they end up gone to a pawn shop or worse.

WARNING!! Spoiler below!

EDIT: Just to save anyone who is just finding this the trouble, I ended up getting my cues back! :)

Not really an advocate for calling the cops but you should. They acknowledged posession simple as that and them not calling you back is a bad sign.

Same situation

I had almost the same situation happen to me. I lost my cell phone and called my number to see who found it. When I offered the person on the other end a 25$ reward, she demanded I raise it to 50$. I agreed and directed her to meet me at a public location. My next call was to the police. I met the lady at the agreed location while under observation by a plain clothes officer. When the woman produced the phone and demanded her 50$ the officer approached and informed her she could be arrested on any number of charges including extortion and possession of stolen property. She claimed she found it and therefore could not be charged with possession. The officer responded that she now knew the rightful owner and continued possession of the phone would be sufficient to charge her.

Offer an bigger reward and state that even know the cues arent worth that much , they still have sentimental value to you,,..it may work if their not into pool and know anything bout cues///Thats just freakin sad:mad:...They took the time to call you but after that they want to dick you around.. Why cant people just have some morals and class and think how they would feel if the shoe was on the other foot. I feel for ya man and I hope all works out and the guy comes to his senses... Ask around to see if you happen to have any police friends or and private investagators that may be able to get that # and address for you..some can pull the GPS up and track the jerks at a certain time...Anyhow my friend I hope you get them back << ED

Do you think he will be intimidated by 20 guys on Mopeds?
Are you guys the dreaded Hells Accountants?
Maybe you guys can gang audit him.

I hope he calls you tho. Maybe he is checking on the value of them and weighing it up against what he thinks he might get for a reward.
Unfortunately people have been known to do that. I have returned quite a few of wallets and barley got a thank you.

What kind of cues did you lose?

Can't find the name or address so far on reverse lookup. I do have a police friend in another state who is checking a bit for me.

I only have that it is a metro pcs cell number in the West Palm Beach area

Not sure where you got the idea of mopeds from? Look, I am not trying to be an internet tough guy, but I did work as a bouncer for a while and I am about 280 pounds or so and I would not be the biggest guy in my group either. :)

Really, this has nothing to do with the main point at all.

Let's see.

I had my custom Bob Zide loaded with ivory and inlaid with a 1.5 ct black diamond in the butt sleeve- with a custom matched 1st gen 314 and an OB classic shaft

I had a limited edition predator willie hoppe cue

1 predator BK2 cue

a jump cue

all in a black 3x5 tribal talisman case.

I have called the cops. They said there is no theft. There is nothing they can ( or will) do. I finally got the officer to just call the number and try to talk to the guy. Waiting to hear back from him. Not expecting too much there.

I dunno where you are in Florida, but I would contact the Sheriff's Dept. and ask for a Supervisor. They have probable cause to believe a theft has occurred. Who ever the officer is that you talked to should have made a report with the description of items lost/stolen.:frown:

I am in West Palm Beach. I already talked with the sheriff dept. They said no theft has occured. I have a case number, but that is the end of the whole thing as far as they are concerened. No laws have been broken as far as they see.

I guess that means anything I find unattended outside of my house without a label/name etc., is going to be MINE! Glad I read this thread! :frown

I'm really pissed off hearing about this! Wtf is wrong with your sheriff department? I used to live in West Palm and glad I left if this is the way they are treating you. You reported your property as lost/stolen and they can't help even though they know who has it? Change your last name to Rockefeller and you may get some consideration here. Good luck, bud.

Best,
Mike

Does this translate to Finders Keepers??? Good Luck tomorrow it sonuds like an interesting adventure! Hope this all works out!!!

Im glad to hear this,,keep us all up to date. ..another thing something like this , you would think the cops could at least find out who the cell phone carrier is, and if its not a darn prepay thing,,they should be able to find out something for you. After all what the hell do we all pay taxes for.. I hope you get lucky and could find a cop thats into billliards and cues so maybe he could help you out ....<< ED

yeah. I know. They don't care at all. He said he couldn't do anything to help get it back. I said " you mean you WON'T do anything. You COULD, you just won't!"

That's OK. I have the phone number, the address, the house phone number, residents living in the house, previous addresses, etc.

I really just want a door to knock on!! I am still very much hoping to resolve this nicely for everyone. All I want is my cues back. I am even willing to pay for it. I don't know why someone would choose to act this way.

I would have been upset to lose the cues, but I could have dealt with that. This is totally different. To have someone call you up and tell you that they have your cues, and you let them know how important they are to you, and then for them to decide to keep them is just beyond words. I am taking this VERY personally. I cannot let that stand. It is not about the money at all.

Glad you got the info.

Good luck tracking the cues themselves down. I hope their stupidity ended with not calling you back and the cues are still with them.

I hope the cues survived the event well. I was always worried carrying my cues on my bike.

Wishing you good luck this morning!! Hope you and your buddies teach those a**holes a lesson.

Wait a second, wasn't it YOUR fault you lost the cues? Why blame the guy that found them for YOUR stupid mistake? Didn't YOU put "Reward if found" on the case? I truly hope you get your cues back, but I think a generous reward is NOT out of the question! I guess it depends on how much you value your cues. Probably not much at all if you were that careless in losing them!
You know maybe this guy is an AZer and read your initial post where you said you will bring 20 of your buddies with you to pick up the cues...I know I wouldn't call again!
