Often in pool halls and bars where leagues are played there are numerous other things to do. Remembering the old Miller Tavern sport days, I wonder how you think you'd do in an all around format of the following.

Bartable 8 Ball
Golden Tee
Shuffleboard
Darts
Foosball
Bartable 6 ball
Pinball

There are no individual champions, you just get points for your finish. So you could win 8 ball and 6 ball, but not even come close to winning the tournament because you didn't place in Golden Tee, Shuffleboard, Darts, and Foosball.

I know people who could have a really good shot at the pool and one of the other categories, but no one who could do well enough in something besides darts or Foosball to make a difference.

BTW the races in 8 ball and 6 ball would be long 12 or 15 so no fluke races to 3. Although, flip a race to 3 might make it much more interesting.

This was an idea that was being talked about with a distributor buddy and a video game designer friend who does pinball games.

Bartable 8 Ball OK
Golden Tee Never heard of it, don't like my odds!:D
Shuffleboard Been 35-40 years since I played, probably not a lock!
Darts Tried darts a few times, can safely rule out that I am a natural
Foosball 40 years ago I was an average foosball player, miles below good
Bartable 6 ball Can I give the other player the break?
Pinball 25 hole or flipper? Doesn't matter much, my skills are marginal.

What do you say?

Despite my less than serious answers it could be a good way to get people interested in different activities at the same venue possibly getting them to stay longer and better utilizing room space also. It would be a tough choice between trying to have a decent payout or maybe just having fun prizes. I could be wrong but I see this as more of a fun competition than something serious. Add pistols and basketball free throws along with dropping marbles and I'll take a swing at it!

Bartable 8 Ball - Unless Jesse Bowman or SVB shows up its a lock
Golden Tee - No chance at all here :(
Shuffleboard - Decent but definitely not a strong game for me
Darts - Use to be REALLY good at darts so I like to think that I would fair well :)
Foosball - Been years but If Im matched up with a good player he'll cook me
Bartable 6 ball - See 8 Ball comments above..
Pinball - Really good at pinball and feel that this might make or break my tourney results

3 out of 6 here me thinks... Ill stick to darts and pool

Bar box 6 and 8 ball I like my odds. I used to play good shuffle baord and was at one time fairly decent at darts. Never heard of Golden Tee and was never much count at pinball didn't interest me and fooseball interested me even less. I suppose at the end of the day I could enjoy myself playing shufflebaord and darts and might make a buck or two playing on a barbox, but alas me thinks I would only serve to delight the owners by spending my money.

Bartable 8 Ball Pretty confident.
Golden Tee Somewhat confident. Have played before, but it was a while ago. Felt decent at it, not sure what constitutes "good" considering I never see anyone actually play it.
Shuffleboard I'm a decent player. Not good enough to really spin shots in, but I have good speed control.
Darts Used to have a dartboard. I'm above average for sure, but not a pro or close.
Foosball Meh.
Bartable 6 ball Never played 6 ball. If it's similar to 9 ball, I'll be fine.
Pinball Love pinball. Pretty good at it. Had all the top scores on the South Park machine at a local watering hole before it closed.

What do you say?

I'd feel ok about it. Not great, but I wouldn't feel like a guppy in the shark tank. I think I could place high on any given day, win on a good one.

Pinball and pool would probably be the only things I have a chance at.

On a side note, I had no idea how good some people really are at foosball. The current foosball world champion lives in my town. He is a younger kid named Tony, mid 20's. They have a foosball league in one of the poolrooms here that he plays in. He talked about going to Europe in 2011 and winning the world championship. I believe he is the number one player in the world.

It is pretty impressive to watch the speed of him and some of the guys he plays with.

Bartable 8 Ball -As others have mentioned depends on the field
Golden Tee -Dumped a bunch of quarters back in the late 90s.
Shuffleboard-Never played, probably not good
Darts -Steel tip, better than even money
Foosball -Marginal at best
Bartable 6 ball - If I dont have to break...
Pinball - How about Pacman??

What do you say?

Bartable 8 Ball: I would be just fine
Golden Tee: This would be tough
Shuffleboard: I can compete
Darts: No fear, bring it on
Foosball: one of the most underrated games, tough as hell to play well
Bartable 6 ball: I like my changes
Pinball: Another game that is underrated, could be a problem

I do most of them at or above average, except for the foosball. If you're doing an all around for placing, like they do at the DCC, based on where you finish each event, I think I can compete.

we would play for hours gambling at foosball, if you were just an average player i would beat you 11-0 and if you got lucky you may score a goal by fluke, a lot of skill involved in it...good times!

Im better than average at about half of those. Don't know how I would do, but I do know that it would be a helluva lot of fun!!!
