Much admiration and respect sent to both players for getting out there and playing this very public match. I only saw the first three games (busy- had to run), and I've never met either player- but I was totally struck by how plainly, naturally human they both were.
Women are much more leery of doing public things like this than men are- you make yourself vulnerable to all of the comments, unsolicited advice, slapstick, jeering, leering- and that's only the male audience! Add on the whole "I could play better" mentality that all of us poolplayers feel while sitting in front of a computer, and it has to be hard.
Yes, they walked into the match knowing exactly what they were in for. In which case: Major props for getting out there and getting that thrill and that seasoning, for all of the risks and rewards.
May both players persist in pool, and may they both be stronger, smarter, and hungrier for the experience of having played this.
