Host A Pro (Pool Player) On The Road

Thanks for the write-up...I raced bikes for quite a few years and was a decent aprticipant. Made over 1k in 10 years in east coast pro races:o

Lemond is an icon, but he turned a bit bitter. I like what he did, not what he became.

Blackballed, I took care of Greg Lemond for several years.
He use to come down for the Catskills Criteriun in Los Gatos Ca.

My buddy who ran the criteriun was President of the San Jose Bicycle Club.
He needed people to take care of the junior riders for the four day weekend.
He gave me a great young rider from Reno Nevada to host.

He told me that Greg would not win the race but he would be in the lead all the way till the last 300 feet.
I don't remember the length but they were racing around this huge park for several hours.
Gary, said he would be beaten by a Wheel Sucker.
A wheel sucker is a guy who rides behind you and slipstreams at the end to pass you.

This wheel sucker was a beauty because he rode right behind Greg the whole race.
This meant that Greg had to break the wind the hole race while the wheel sucker coasted and rested behind Greg.

When he lost, he was heart broken and cried, I told Greg it' okay your not a wheel sucker.
Your time will come.

I got a call one late afternoon from Greg in France.
Mr, Calip did you see me, yes Greg I saw you.
He told me it was my time to cry and I did.

The road sucks. Almost impossible to get a game, when you do theres always some bullshit one way or another, the expenses eat you alive and you spend most of your time in shitty places with people whose only goal in life is to take your money.

Save yourself the aggravation and just go to the US Open One Pocket and US Open 10 Ball in May, Tunica in July and the Open in the fall. You'll spend less on expenses, see a hell of a lot more good pool and you wont miss anything but the horrible boredom of sitting in a pool room at 2 AM in North Shitheel, Illinois listening to a swarm of nut hunters trying to take one another off for $20 a game.

Quoted for truth.

I'm going to go ahead and be Mr. Unpopular here and say Hell No! I would not, unless I was very good, close, personal friends with the guy(which I'm not friends with any pros) let a professional pool player stay at my house. I don't own much worth strealing but what I do have, I value. Who in their right mind would ever due this with a complete stranger??

This program is not for all, is it?

And the problem is people, not pool players...let's be clear.

I'd be on a beach somewhere tropical.

Yeah, the Philippines! Best of both worlds and the longer you stay the less the nut is. It's costly to get there but it's very reasonable once you're there. Some of the toughest action on the planet to sweat and you can jump in yourself if you have the stones and/or talent.

It's 'Host A Pro' not 'Host A Crack-Head', dude.

I agree that many would be nervous about hosting a complete stranger who is on the road, but that is precisely why this group was started... So that players and fans can become acquainted and begin to network with each other and GET TO KNOW each other a bit better.

The internet is a beautiful thing. Get with the times cuz they are a changin'!

Would be a good idea and caution/security would be a concern. If there was a ratings/reviews section that would be beneficial. I.E. players could see reviews of the hosts from previous players and hosts could see reviews of players stays at other hosts.....would help get rid bottom pit of both parties....
