I'm watching it as well and it's really cool...seeing a player at Shane's level work with a kid shows how much he loves the game and wants to improve it...Stevie Moore was the same way as he was coming up, and I've seen Larry Nevel work with local league players.
That's why they are my favorite players...not because of the skill, but because of the contributions to pool.

We need more SVB's
I just want everyone to know that this is not a one time thing. When the BEF Junior tournament was held in Mankato, MN some years back, guess who showed up? Yep SVB.
He spent all day with the juniors, playing, teaching, taking challenges and laughing, not to even mention all the autographs he signed. He had every junior excited about playing the game.
He is truly an asset to the sport and a professional through and through.
Thankyou SVB for doing what you do for the sport and always with that great smile.

What I like about SVB is that he likes to be in action and heavily handicaps to get action with advanced amateurs. Very few pros in action at SBE, but Shane was right there. This man is the dominant player for the next 20 years...bank on it.

My hat is off to Shane for giving back by spending time with your youth.
Believe it or not, there are other players who have done the same, but, unfortunately, pool culture has a selective memory. People tend to remember the bad things and can't seem to recall the charity drives, going overseas to support our soldiers, and, yes, players who do take time to hang out with youngsters.

A while back when Scott Frost was in Mobile, AL for a game, a friend of mine stopped by the poolroom to pick up some paperwork. He got to talking to Scott briefly and Scott wound up playing my friend's 10 year old son. After my friend's son "won", Scott begged the kid not to tell anyone, as he had a reputation to uphold. Wink Wink.

Shane Van Boening and Landon Shuffett have the SUPER CLEAN-CUT image that non-industry sponsors can get involved with. Both are great assets to the sport.
Hopefully, these two guys and others like them, will provide the impetus for non-industry sponsors to step up to the plate and bring pocket billiards back to the television on a regular basis.

When i was 10 i got to meet and play with fats . He was all about making sure i knew the fundamentals before playing around with us. Hell of a great guy to all in the room...

I have a video of my 12 year old playing with Shane at Snookers in RI, he's been one of my favorite players since I saw TAR 1. He needs a new nickname though, maybe the Steamroller. Shane Steamroller Van Boening.
"South Dakota Kid." Great asset to the game. Wonderful attitude; very mature. And that form - I could watch him play for days!!
