House Cues- Heaven? or Hell?!

Where do they go once they are dead?! I mean... not worth the time/money it would cost for major repairs. Do you send them off in a blaze of glory? Do you salvage them? (not much to salvage, on a house cue) or throw them in the chipper, and make mulch for your garden?!

what are the other options?
 
I'm pretty sure Chuck Starkey (desi2960) buys them in 100 count lots, sorts through them and salvages some of the older shafts.

Kind of like coin roll hunting for some silver coins amongst a pile of clad imposters:smile:
 
Measureman and I talked about a room in Tom's River NJ.
They had a railing for the seating area....the rungs were reject
Szamboti shafts.
I've also seen rooms use the whole cues as dividers.
 
I attached glow string to them, make ominous breathing sounds and play Lightsaber DeathMatch with random drunks.
 
Creative! (Mostly...)

Anyone make furniture? like a wall rack!? made from old cut up cues?! or picture frames? there have got to be 1000's of these around, they cant all become sneakies.
 
Old House Cues

One guy around here makes adirondack style chairs with old house cues. He also makes them from old hockey sticks and baseball bats.
 
the local guy who services the pool tables made me a walking stick (cane) from an old eight ball and a house cue when he heard i had given up pool because my legs are shot. at first i thought it was a joke, but it turned out to be very functional. it was the best cane i have ever used.
 
I made some nunchucks out of the ends of 4 old house cues. Complete with matching points and bumpers. Cool to have hanging around my pool room.

Makes me wonder.... could you split a cue length wise, and some how fasion a bow and arrow from one?! you could start a collection on your wall of different weapons made of dead sticks!!

Again... how many bridge sticks do you really need!?!

for example... I started this because a friend of mine, owns a bar. Over the years they have kept all the sticks that have broke in someway, I almost told him to toss them out, but started to wonder what most others do?

were talking 100+ cues here... no need for that many bridges, or shorty sticks!!
 
toss em, you cant keep everything that once had some value. you can put them in a lathe and practice putting tips on or turning them down. try messing around with them and maybe make a 2 piece cue out of it, but other than that, you got a bunch of fire starters.

yeah if i had access to a lathe i would love too!
 
Put bridge heads on most of them. Conversions and some guys make walking canes or sticks from them.

I use the salvaged shaft wood for making plugs and tenons.
Plugs if I have to change a cue to a different size pin.
Ferrule tenons.

I try and not let anything go to waste.

Good use of material. That still leaves the butts. Maybe sell them in bundles of 5-10 to anyone who wants them on ksl, and let them answer their own question of "Now what?...":D
