1st 2 days of the tour. Hectic :)

Nice slip of the finger, Mark! Might not want to have the other guys see this post! :D (or your girlfriend, unless she really is a he.) Oh, what a difference missing one little "r" makes!
Oh crap, its a her thanks :)

Boy we have just been so busy the last couple of days butI finally have a chance to tell some more.
Well the last thing I said was that we had a meeting in Spokane at 9am then off to Tacoma. Well the name of this thread is hectic days and nothing seems to change, this one was a real beauty.

Meeting at 9am - Reality, Didn't even get out of the hotel til 10am

Meeting scheduled for 15 mins - Reality, 45 mins

We thought that the trip to Tacoma was 4 and 1/2hrs - Reality, 5 and 1/2 hrs.

We get to the hotel with reservations made in advance - Reality, they only got it half right and had to talk to straighten it out for another 20 mins.

We have 40 mins to get changed showered and get to the poolroom to do the clinic- Reality.

From the GPS we figured out already that it was 8 mins to the pool room - Reality, 27mins to the poolroom.

We have never been late to a clinic or a show in 6yrs - Reality, there is always a first time for everything,.

However, the clinic went very well and and we ended up eating a breakfast at the pool room around midnight after chatting with everyone for a while.

I woke up the next day at 11am. These late nights and early mornings and the travel catches up with you without you realizing it. We have the show at 7.30pm and so wecan get some stuff done during the day that we have not had a chance to do. JA's Zipper broke on his suit case and had to cut it open so he needed to get a new one and a haircut. Nicky is always wandering off and I went for some Indian food. We do alot of things together and so its nice to just get away or be on your own a while sometimes.
Well, eventhough I had a good sleep after eating I took a nap and awoke ready to get started again. So we head to the show at Malarkey's and we was not expecting a great turn out as they were charging $25 at the door and from what the owner had saidhe had not gotten as many people as he would have liked. I am not really sure how many he would have liked to get but we had a full house yet again. They had brought in bleachers that were filled along with many tables around the rest of the arena. It became standing only room withing 10 mins of starting the show.

We got down to business and we have began adding to the show by testing things out. Weaddeda Q & A session and once we get a question or 2 it has become one of the most popular parts of the greatest show in Billiards. People go very quiet and as I look around the room they are focused on the stories that come from some of the questions. JA played a mini challenge against RRRRich (The Hat) it was a race to 8 and took forever, went hill hill on a table that wasn't very forgiving and the match was ended by Rich making a tough 10 ball and letting the cue ball loose and scratching on the 10.

I met, Mark Purdy and Russ Chewning (Short Bus Russ) at the show and I really enjoy meeting fellow AZers so that was cool for me. We had ran late again, mainley due to the Challenge but nobody seemed to care. I did have one assH&*#e outside while I was smoking ask what was going on in the back. I had seen him and his buddy playing in the other room and so I explained. He said "Sounds Boring" I explained that to the keen pool fan its alot of fun, raffles, stories, trickshots, etc he then said "Sounds Gay" I realize that he is just looking for trouble or to show how cool he was that he wasn't impressed. not sure what to be honest. So I just moved along my way and didn't let him get to me.
We get back and we are happy with the nights work and head to bed.

Today, we took the chance to sleep on again and then headed out to Portland. The night before there was a big guy there named Paul who is the ownerof Pauley G's Billiards. A new pool room in Olympia, Wa, just 40 mins or so down the road from Tacoma and so I called him and told him we were coming through and would like to stop by to support him in his new pool room and maybe meet some of his locals/regulars. (obviously not talking about me but some of the locals may like to meet JA and Nick) So we get there and there are a number of people there with pictures of JA and Nick they would like to get signed. So they guys did that and Paul offeredto get our lunch and was certain that he had a great sub sandwich for us. I mean howgoodcan a sub sandwich be? Well it was awesome. So simple but I think the key is in the meats they use. Very high quality smoked meats. So if you get a chance check it out, they have nice tables too.
We left Pauly G's and headed to Portland. Looking forward to seeing RubyRon and Joe who are our constant supporters and friends in the Portland area. We will be meeting them for breakfast tomorrow along with Paul the owner of Classic Billiards. Then we will go and see what kind of turn out we actually get for the clinic. As I said before we are not expecting anything to be honest as there are so many issues with this stop. but have a couple of people say that they are gonna but no real commitment.

So I decided to splash out and do something I have wanted to do and also had a couple of comments asking about pictures. I have a couple but not many and have no idea how to post them. SoI went to Target and got a video camera that I am sure will also take stills. So I will be able to post some video to youtube :)

Well thats all for now. I am going to work on this camcorder thing and see if I can figure it out.

Your story about the 2 guys out front reminded me of your first trip here. You came through with Earl and Johnny, and I was gone on vacation, but when I get home my wife Susie says to me: "So, Mark is standing outside having a smoke and Jack (our local equivilant to your 2 in Tacoma) goes up to him and says 'ya know, those things will kill you'. Mark says 'I don't know-my grandfather lived to be 94'. 'He lived to be 94 by smoking?', Jack says. 'No-by minding his own business', Mark says." She got a big kick out of it. I hope things go well at Paul's place tomorrow.

We shall see Dave old Buddy. Hope all is well with the road work at your place and its not hurting you too much. Nick and I were talking today about you and your fish. We don't really care for you but your wife is a sweet heart and you catch and cook some great fish, thats all we were saying :)

Yep. That's pretty much the prevailing opinion around here too. If I ever forget how to cook I'm going down like a darted Rhino. Mo's clam chowder in Coos Bay- just sayin'. Susie says 'hey' and congrats on being a solid judge of character.

Ok here is my first try at video. I am still trying to figure it out and hope that they get better. Here is the back story, JA called me and said, I'm walking over to Subway. I told him I would go with him. and for him to just know on my hotel door when he was ready. Well he knew I had bought a camera but din't know when I was gonna be able to start using it. So as I open the door he tries to jump out at me to scare me. Thats about it. Like I said the first behind the scenes video. Its not long but please let me know if you get it ok so I can try do more but hopefully more informative :) Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifa7...DvjVQa1PpcFMtp6WHHLE-g1SQtFYEcmZqo0mYUOMdVeY=

Ok, I just looked at it and there is a green bar across the screen. not sure if I left on protective tape or something I will check it out.

Yeah, like I saidin my previous post. I have no idea what that is it isn't there until Iputit on youtube. I will try and figure it out.

As I had said in a previous post today we are having breakfast with the owner of Classic Billiards in Portland. I met up with Rubyron for a just a short while yesterday and he was on his way to the poolroom. He was planning on having a late night so I am guessing he won't be joining us for breakfast. Its a really nice day outside, well the sun is shining and no rain so I think thats a good day for portland. It is a little chilli outside though still. Well I am just killing time until 9am when we are supposed to meet up. Not sure what the over/under might be on them being on time but I will go with the over for sure. I am going to try and do more video today and load it tonight, hopefully there will not be that green bar going across. If anyone knows about this stuff and knows the reason for the greenbar please enlighten me. Thanks.

Mark,

It was enjoyable to finally meet you at Malarkey's. You put on a really great show and was well worth the three hour drive to see it. Actually won a T shirt for being the furthest person to attend the show so that was cool. I would recommend this show to everyone and the best part in my opinion was the question and answer period. I had two players with me that just started playing about a year ago and they really enjoyed the show also.

They did agree with you on the Race to 8 was a little long and so was the 211 game, well until JA started talking about how he plans a table out and what he was trying to do for position. Then it made the 211 portion more interesting.

I personally was amazed that it started at 730 and ended around midnight. I was originally thinking maybe a couple of hours, but being that long was a huge bonus.

If I could make a suggestion, I heard numerous comments on how JA makes it look so effortless to draw the cue and to put it anywhere he wants. It may be a good idea to show off a few stroke shots for JA to do during Nicks routine.

Thank You again for putting on this tour and again, if the show is near you, I strongly suggest attending.

Thanks
Paul Purdy,,,yeah, Mark called me Mark, but I have a feeling he meets a few people on the road so I will let it slide this time....lol

Paul, I am sooo sorry. My mothers maiden name is Purdy therefore I have a a cousin named Mark Purdy and a friend I play golf with named mark Purdy. I guess it just stuck.
Thank you for you comments on the show. They do not usually run past 11pm but we added a few things that stung it out but I am glad you enjoyed it. You will find no other pool show with the format we use and it is the greatest show in pool. It was great to meet you.

We got back and everyone has noticed that they are not in the shape we need to be and with fast food and sitting around most of the time decided to go play a little Basketball. Played horse and a little one on one. You would be surprised how good Nick shoots. Anyway I took some video so I will try and load it if it came out ok.

It's raining again and again and again.........

I bet Nick won't want to see the Oregon coast again. Excited to see you guys tomorrow!

He loves this trip. Itsa wonderful ride if you like to see natural beauty, he will be back with bells on:) You are gonna be in Coos Bay? Please say hi. We are looking forward to getting there too.

THi is a nothing post really. Last night I fell asleep around 7.30 and woke up about 10minsago. I NEVER sleep like that, I hope it does not become a habbit. Well yesterday was a really nice sunny and clear day for the most part and today we are planning to take the scenic route to Coos Bay but its raining and over cast :( Not sure if we will be able to even see any of the views and even if we can its gonna be misarable. Maybe it will be clearer as we get out of Portland,

Well its been a hectic first 2 days on the road, I got punked that Nick had missed his plane and would miss our first clinic in Salt Lake City. I went through the wrong security gate at the airport after standing in line for almost an hour and had to run All around the airport to get to my terminal on time. We could not find the car rental place (Fox) which is hidden away from all the others in SLC. At this point I have ran a few miles with bag, etc.
We did a clinic and a show all in the same day and Nick stay around after to play in a mini tourney they had and they had asked him to play in it. So Johnny and I got a ride back to the hotel around 11.30pm and left the car for Nick. However, once in my hotel room I realized that I had thecar keys in my pocket. CRAP! So we arranged a ride for Nick and now have to get a way back to the car this morning. I could not get a hold ofthe pool room owner who had said "No problem just call me when you are ready" So I call my newbuddy "Pickpocket" a fellow AZer and he says no problem I would be happy to. Very nice of him by the way but the owner called right after and said they were on their way. Great people at Batters Up in SLC if you get a chance go and hit balls there all great people and friendly.

So Nick has been got to get the car for an hour and I call him and he says that he has extended our checkout and that he will be on his way soon. He decidedto havebreakfast there at the poolroom as they do a good breakfast. So here I sit waiting for his return and once he is here we head up to Pocatello, ID. Justa 2 1/2hr drive up the road where we have a clinic at Pockets of Pocatello that starts at 6pm to 10pm.

Johnny is getting a little ancy asthe Masters coverage starts at 1pm and he really wants to watch that.

As some of you know I like my Bud Light. It had a couple yesterday during the day on an empty stomach while the clinic was going on. I felt nothing, maybe its the altitude? No they have "Near beer" here in SLC. its about half the alchohol that normal. So thats why ifyouare in SLC and findyourself at a bar and drank 10 beers and not feeling anything its because you really only had 5 but paid for 10 :) Just some travel advice.

I am already missing my family and have 23 more days left. Having a great time though really except Archer seems to think I am his little toy that he can wind up and let go when he is bored. Just poking me in the ribs, making funny noises all of a sudden and asking questions like. "What would you rather bee or a wasp?" If I say my neck is stiff, he tells me its (misothelioma) SPelling? if I cough, I got misothelioma, If I need the tv volume up its mesothelioma. I guess that comercial got on his head :). Thats all for now. I have been waiting for them for an hour and now they are rushing me to get going.

Be careful In Pocotella, the sheep get very nervous when White males come near in short pants and local Authotirties believe them too!

Well, we took the scenic route to Coos Bay, Or. The weather wasn't the best but it was still pretty especially by the ocean. We looked around town just a little and it seems like a great little town. We stopped on the way for some lunch along the ocean and had some of the best Clam Chowder I ever ate, a place called the Dove.... something. Also had some beer battered Halibut that was outstanding. Nick and I really enjoy the seafood and so I think we are in for at reat here on Coos Bay. I have never seen so many fish bars, Oyster houses, Crab shacks and seafood restaurants in my life on the way in here. But hey, if you live right here its fresh everyday (They say) I got no reason to not belive them since its so easy to get to.

So once we got here I asked JA to take me over to the place where they are doing the show tonight. It's called Walt's Pourhouse. I spoke with the owner and took a look at where we would be. This place is pretty small, very nice and welcoming but small, we went over how we could work the seating arrangements just in case we get a half decent crowd. Our shows have been doing very well as far as attendance goes but we are ina small town here and I have no idea how many to expect. I spoke with Rick who had been helping us on the ground here and he is expecting a good crowd. What that really means is unknown at this time. Is a good crowd 15 people? 20? All Iknow is I have arranged the "Arena" space as best I could and have room for 18 to sit at a table around the exhibition table. The rest will be standing or making new arrangements. regardless we are gonna have a good show. I saw that Wendy is going to be there tonight as she posted earlier and then another gentleman who is having his Birthday today is going to come I have been told. He does not know that we know and so We will make a fuss over him asd he isn't a young fella.

Well I will let you know how it goes either later tonight or tomorrow. I hope something cool or funny happens soon as I don't want to bore you all with just basic facts. Let me know if there is anything I am missing as I am a little scared to go into too much detail for fear of being even more Boring. Let me know.

Mark,
Keep the details coming:thumbup:
Very few of us will ever be able to experience this on our own. You are our eyes and ears.
If someone is bored by this, I'm sorry for them.
