Approaching the table is a concession, not standing up. In a match with no ref, I am going to stand up and get a clear view of the table.

Well, in the context of league or gambling, understandable, though doing it without being too obvious is nice. It's also a little funny when guys can sit quietly for 8 out of 9 shots, but on the game ball, suddenly it's really important to get that clear view.

Just playing around among friends, it drives me nuts when people jump up into your line of sight because they are just DYING to know if a ball goes or not, or if you can see the edge of a safe they played, or whatever. There's nothing so important it can't wait a second until I'm done shooting.

What if you only have 1 butt with a break shaft and a playing shaft? Can you legitimately break the rack switch shafts and keep shooting?

1.11 Concession
If a player concedes, he loses the match. For example, if a player unscrews his jointed playing cue stick while the opponent is at the table and during the opponent’s decisive rack of a match, it will be considered a concession of the match

If I do it after I make a ball on the break and I'm still shooting it's obviously not a concession, but if I break and come up dry and swap shafts while you're shooting?

If your opponent is on the hill and you do this, technically you have conceded. If it was me I would either

1. Wait until my shot to change the shaft, or
2. Tell my opponent I am changing my shaft and not conceding and get his acknowledgement

the glove
my hands get moist after about 45 min of play then i glove up.
there is no rule saying you cannot take your glove of to dry your hands or even take your glove off at all D@mm guys thats a little extreme.

Just saying...as common as the glove has become in recent years...if a guy laboriously peels off his glove while his opponent is lining up for a game winning shot...Seems like a concession to me, in 2012????

Twice in one game...puts it back on equally laboriously.

I consider it bad form.

Would you really want to win a game that way. I like to know I won because I played better. Especially in league where money isn't a factor. I play for the competition.
In fact if my opponent plays unusually poor or accidentally makes the 8 out of order I don't really feel like I have won a thing. I feel bad for my opponents misfortune and I shake his hand, but I never take pride in that type of win.

Now if you are playing for cash that is a completely different story.
