Are pool players jealous of other players?

I'm not jealous of better pool players, because even if they are pro, I know they are not making any money

I'm jealous of golfers, because # 400 in the world is still making $1 million a year.

I used to be jealous when I found out my first wife's old boyfriend had a bigger stick than me. Then she explained to me that it was more important how it was used and that I used my stick much better. I felt much better after that. Sort of the indian versus the arrow thing I guess.....
Thats only said to make the new guy feel better! In relationships, its definitely the arrow first:thumbup:

I'm really jealous of people who manage to hail taxis before I do on a very rainy day in New York City.

I have experienced it in limited degrees. Normally from the occasional player in their 20's who has just started playing, and they fail to understand that my skill set is the result of playing pool longer then they have been alive, and or they get jelous over the cues I am playing with because my cues are worth more than they car they are driving. It hasnt happended alot, but is happened.

Good post, that is exactly what I am talking about.

a rough job!

Actually, I'm kinda jealous of David's work. Did you click on his link? ;)

I met a friend of a friend that shot for a magazine back in the '90's. They only paid him $500 a day plus expenses for all of that work and sweat! Still I guess somebody has to do it . . . .

Hu

Yep, a tough job...but some are "up to the task". (tongue firmly in cheek
and pun intended.)

Great post !!I have had people jealous of me for one reason or the other alot of times. Hell, I don't know why ?? I have been through alot and some people on here know what I am talking about. What's funny is I have really never had much problem being jealous.I figure if a guy is with a hot girl.....he has to finance that ,if he has a better job they have to pay the tax and put in the hours .As far as pool if they play better there is a good chance there is some area of life they have had to neglect .I have a pretty good life all around . Was it not for the Grace of God where would I be ???So who am I to be hating ?? Life ain't all about pool but life sure is alot of fun when I do get to play .

I believe with proper instruction and TIME, most players can become great players.

I believe that is one of the most common misconceptions in all of sport.

Whilst there is no doubt that with proper instruction and time we can all get AS GOOD AS WE CAN POSSIBLY BE. Most of us can never be "great".

We are limited by our temperament, our eyesight, our hand to eye coordination, our mental strength and many many other factors. The words "great player" are bandied around and most of those guys have the whole package OVER AND ABOVE the instruction and the time.

It's nice to dream though.

Jealousy

I think when someone has a string of luck as far as matches go, some players might get a little jealous, but mostly the good players view other good players as adversaries, always sizing them and their game up.

I have found out that when someone is good, but they really don't want to bump heads with you, they have a tendency to befriend you. One of the reasons so many pros and near pros are friends.

Are people jealous of other people?

Or other things that people have? That they do not have? What makes aperson jealous in the first place?

Fixed that for ya

Haha so true...and to answer ur questions lack of self confidence

Jealous... That's one hell of a word.... As I get older I am gonna have to say yes......... No home... No family.... No roots.... Just a single minded focus.... Yup I am Jealous... Would I trade places? Not in a heartbeat..

I had/have the talent.... Does that mean I can't/couldn't do the math?

Nope I had that talent too in my 20s... CJ Wiley sent me back to school understanding the economics to finish my degree...... I was in my early 20s and cashed in an open event when he paid for my breakfast.... Out of school I was going to make more than he had all year.... 40hours a friggin day every friggin week....

God bless consulting.... I make more talking an hour than most players
can make in a hour if they are stealing..

I look each and every week on the main page and there is still no future in playing the game.... We still eat our young....

When I can work 2 days a week and make what a regional tourney winner makes.... I am not so Jealous..... When The Open and DCC rolls around and someone gets to add that to their accomplishments... I am jealous as hell.......

I think it all comes about from where we set our priorities.... You either succeed in your 20s or you lay it aside... A full belly, a roof over your head, and providing for your family supplants the dreams you had at a younger age.....

It's a pretty odd feeling when you feel both jealousy and pity at the same time...... I think your next post should be do you PITY other pool players....

I'll jump in the box and donate to an US Open winner just because..... The up and comers.. They can suck it..... Go get a job.... Most would need weight if I was their age....................
